PROS AND CONS OF USING ECLINIC WORKS:

PROS:

  • eClinicalWorks Software allows you a lot of customisation. We utilise it in a variety of activities, and everyone has their own approach for making the system work for them.
  • The user interface is really straightforward. If you become lost in the system, it usually just takes a few seconds to figure out where you need to go because there are always two options right in front of you.
  • The user interfaces are also excellent. The results are effortlessly sent to eClinicalWorks EMR, which is critical for effective patient care.
  • As they construct their progress note, our suppliers like the capability of the right chart panel.
  • Building templates’ adaptability.
  • Dragon Medical and eCW have been integrated.
  • Because all of a patient’s records are available, it improves provider communication.
  • Errors in handwriting interpretation are eliminated.
  • Customizable template: IT has begun modifying the template to meet its unique requirements.
  • Instead of phoning the pharmacy for medicine refills, you may send refills to the pharmacy electronically, saving time.
  • Sending phone interactions to providers/nurses is far more dependable than having the patient diverted to an employee’s voicemail. All in one place, nurses and providers can see who is calling and look over their chart before calling the patient back.
  • Web Encounters – Patients can send nurses web encounters, which are similar to telephone encounters, for medicine refills, queries, or to cancel or make an appointment.
  • Depending on the user’s perspective, one of ECW’s strengths might potentially be a drawback. There are several redundancies in ECW. A task can be completed in a variety of ways. Because of its adaptability, it may appeal to expert computer users. It tends to perplex inexperienced computer users, in my experience.
  • Templates are simple to construct, and any provider in our system may do so. It certainly improves the efficiency of paperwork. We can standardise the orders/procedures in the clinic by generating a collection of templates based on established principles.
  • We’ve made the switch to open access scheduling. We may specify the follow-up time and the end of the visit in ECW, and then issue an alert. The report may be performed by front office employees, who can then book patients closer to the appointment time. Our no-show/cancellation rates have decreased as a result of it.

CONS:

  • Because of the way names are input at the pharmacy vs in our system, the interaction with SureScripts has a few minor glitches. Because of mismatches, around half of the refill requests I get online need me to validate the patient or medicine.
  • The lab interaction with Quest appears to be functional, and findings are sent promptly. The compendium has some difficulties remaining current. Each lab firm is responsible for putting up an interface, and the outcomes vary. Labcorp typically delivers two sets of results: one via the interface and the other by fax. The hospital is unable to communicate in any way. Because of the fluctuation, it’s tough to see the history lab in a single perspective to look for trends.
  • Data analytics aren’t as powerful as some of the other products. To better fulfil our goals, we opted to employ third-party software.
  • E Clinical EMR frequently stalls, especially while trying to open patient papers.
  • For bigger groups, eClinicalWorks Software faced performance concerns. I’m not convinced their technical configuration was optimal for moving about the programme at peak speed. In addition, their techniques for assessing the situation were ineffective.
  • More metadata elements for their EBO reporting module are recommended, as well as direct database access for analytics teams to build needed bespoke reports.
  • Having a more comprehensive set of features tailored for larger practices.
