TMC MP Mahua Moitra Hints A Possible Alliance Between TMC And Congress!

The Goa Legislative Assembly is ending its 5-year term on March 15, 2022. The last elections were held in February 2017. The state government was constituted by a coalition of the Bharatiya Janata Party as the principal partner alongside the Goa Forward Party and Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party. The current chief minister is Pramod Sawant, who succeeded late Manohar Parrikar.

Political Developments

People of Goa seem to be amused by witnessing fresh political alliances every day as Goa prepares for assembly polls. The Congress has pointed at the Trinamool Congress (AITC) for allegedly snatching its party members and, thereby, assisting the BJP in retaining its stronghold in Goa.

Contrarily, a group of political leaders are not brushing off the possibility of a covert understanding between Congress and TMC in the upcoming polls. The assumption may not be without substance, as the TMC MP Mahua Moitra has time and again hinted at forging the said alliance to weaken BJP in the state. Mahua Moitra has been authorized by her party to handle the campaigning of the Goa Assembly election.

Several Congress leaders, notably former Chief Minister Luizinho Falerio and NCP MLA Churchill Aleamo joined the TMC along with their followers.

Party Campaigns

  • BJP: The ruling party stresses mainly on providing adequate job opportunities for youth and massive investment in the tourism sector.
  • TMC: ‘Mhaje Ghar, Maalki Hakk’ is a unique housing scheme promised by the Trinamool Congress in Goa. Besides, they have tabled another pro-people plan. The party also promises Title/Ownership Rights to all residents who have been in Goa since 1976.
  • Congress: INC has guaranteed a minimum of 30 percent job reservation for women. This strategy has been highly lauded in the precedence of major participation of women voters in the past assembly elections in Bihar and Bengal.
  • AAP: The Aam Aadmi Party leader Arvind Kejriwal is always on the center stage with a bouquet of promises. He has assured 1 job per family or a minimum ex gratia of Rs. 3000/-, 80% job reservations for Goan domiciles, skill university, salary hike for women, and so on.

Goa elections news is still hitting the headlines. It is because of the entry of AITC (All India Trinamool Congress) in the coastal belt. TMC is quite determined to spread its wings across the nation and accordingly set its goals to capture Goa.
