PM Modi’s Major Security Breach Ahead Of Ferozepur Rally

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposed event at Ferozepur in Punjab had been cancelled due to a major security lapse, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has stated.

The Ministry has asked for a detailed report from the Punjab government to fix responsibility for the security lapse and take strict action against the responsible government officials. As per sources, the Prime Minister had to visit several places in the Punjab state to lay foundation stones for several projects.

The official MHA statement said: “Due to rain and poor visibility, PM waited for about 20 minutes for the weather to clear out. When the weather didn’t improve, it was decided that he would visit the National Marytrs Memorial via road, which would take more than two hours. He then proceeded to travel by road after necessary confirmation of necessary security arrangements by the Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Police,”

“Around 30 km away from National Martyrs Memorial in Hussainiwala, when the PM’s convoy reached a flyover, it was found that the road was blocked by some protesters. The PM was stuck on the flyover for 15-20 minutes. This was a major lapse in the security of PM.” added the statement.

Today’s visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi was supposed to be his first visit since the repeal of three farm laws. Many farmers are opposing the entry of PM Modi in Punjab. One of the largest farmer union in Punjab, Bhartiya Kisan Union (Ekta Ugrahan) has been leading the protest at the front foot. The members of Bhartiya Kisan Union were seen protesting and blocking roads at multiple locations across Punjab.
