Sonu Sood’s Sister Malvika Sood Joins Congress
On Monday, January 10, 2022, actor Sonu Sood’s sister Malvika Sood joined Congress in Punjab’s Moga region. Senior Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu reached Sonu Sood’s residence after the official joining.
As per another news from last week, the Election Commission of India retracted the appointment of actor Sonu Sood as Punjab’s state icon, state CEO S Karuna Raju stated on Friday. The Chief Election Officer has made this decision because the Bollywood actor recently cited that “he voluntarily stepped down as state’s icon because one of his family members will be contesting in the upcoming Assembly elections“.
Sonu Sood earned the state icon title a year back by the Election Commission of India. And, on January 4, 2022, the ECI revoked his appointment as state icon, Punjab’s Chief Electoral Officer S Karuna Raju stated in an official statement.
Prior to this happening, Sonu mentioned last November that his sister Malvika was joining active politics but clarified that he does not have any such plans of joining any political party.
We welcome Ms Malvika Sood Sachar to Congress family who joined the party today, supported by her brother, actor & social worker @SonuSood, in the presence of CM @CHARANJITCHANNI & PPCC President S. Navjot Singh Sidhu
We wish her all the best in her journey in service of people. pic.twitter.com/HZxoub3mS5
