Will Bhagwant Mann Change The Equation Of AAP In Punjab?
These days, Arvind Kejriwal Punjab Election is the talk of the town! The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) hopes to remove the stigma of being a ‘Delhi-centric’ regional political emblem. It is well expected as the party is gearing up to extend its wings across the states of Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Goa. The assembly elections in Punjab will begin on 10th February 2022 and results will be out on 10th March 2022. However, Kejriwal has put all his might to focus on Punjab State where the party had performed decently in the 2017 assembly poll.
Key Election Strategies for AAP
- Chief Ministerial candidate Bhagwant Mann from Punjab.
- The party believes in the tagline, ‘Vote for a change’, which may work in its favor considering Kejriwal’s image in the state.
- Kejriwal has reiterated to follow similar lines of civic poll propaganda strategies in Chandigarh, which were quite successful.
- AAP is hellbent on pointing at the internal feud of the ruling party that led to the expulsion of the larger-than-life Congress leader, Capt. Amarinder Singh.
- The publicity team of AAP is concentrating on the weaknesses of opposition parties.
- Assurances of freebies like free electricity, women’s welfare packages, and smart schools have been included in the AAP campaign for Punjab.
- AAP has also committed to creating jobs and giving youth unemployment benefits (Guarantee cards).
The party’s campaign style is the replica of Delhi governance that included a plethora of manifesto promises, rigorous ground publicity, and depicting the clean image of the AAP leader, Arvind Kejriwal. The dedicated party volunteers are determined to reach every nook and cranny of the Punjab State.
With one departure, Punjab has never returned the same political party to the treasury in consecutive elections. The exception came in 2012 when the incumbent Akalis-BJP coalition was re-elected. The Aam Aadmi Party’s major competition would be Captain Amarinder Singh’s Punjab Lok Congress, which has already formed an alliance with the BJP.
