
Sources: Akhilesh Yadav To Contest From Mainpuri’s Karhal Seat
The Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav is likely to contest the upcoming Uttar Pradesh assembly elections from the Karhal seat of Mainpuri’s district. This will be his first assembly poll as an individual candidate.
As per the words of SP national spokesperson Ashutosh Verma, “the party president will contest the upcoming elections from Karhal seat of Mainpuri”. According to NDTV, party sources have hinted that Akhilesh Yadav might contest from Karhal, where the Yadav family has a stronghold.
Akhilesh Yadav is an MP from the Azamgarh Lok Sabha constituency. He decided to contest in the upcoming polls after consulting with the people of his parliamentary constituency.
Since 1993, people in Karhal have voted for a Samajwadi party candidate except for five years between 2002-2007. The Karhal seat is currently held by Sobaran Yadav.
