The film Ponniyin Selvan: I teaser was revealed at a massive launch event in Chennai. The film has been helmed by Mani Ratnam. With this film, Ratnam returns to the director's chair after Chekka Chivantha Vaanam (2018), which starred Vijay Sethupathi and Arvind Swami.  The film Ponniyin Selvan is a historical drama based on the classic Tamil novel of the same name by eminent writer Kalki. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan As ‘Nandini’ 

The first look of actor Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as Nandini, the Queen of Pazhuvoor from PS-1 is out now. The actress will star in the Mani Ratnam film Ponniyin Selvan: 1, an upcoming Tamil epic period drama. Along with Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, the film will also feature Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi, and Shobhita Dhulipala, among others.    The teaser of Ponniyin Selvan: I look grand and promising. The scale is enormous, and since it is one of the most expensive films in Indian cinema, all eyes will be on it when it releases later this year. There are sweeping shots of the battle scenes and ships sailing on the water, all complemented by a thumping background score from AR Rahman. The cinematography looks grand, and the visuals are extravagant.

Sharing the first look on social media, the production house wrote: “Vengeance has a beautiful face! Meet Nandini, the Queen of Pazhuvoor! #PS1 releasing in theatres on September 30 in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada,” https://twitter.com/MadrasTalkies_/status/1544569424480727040 In the poster, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan can be seen donning Indian drapes. The actress wears a traditional orange silk saree. She is also accessorized in heavy statement ornaments.   Directed, written and produced by Mani Ratnam, PS-1 is said to be one of the most expensive Indian films ever made.
