Six Lesser-Known Sci-fi Films You Should Watch At least Once in Your Lifetime


Science fiction isn’t the forte of top Indian film makers. Do you believe that too? Most people are of this view, and even if you ask the Indian audience, they’ll accept that they haven’t seen anything magical in the sci-fi genre.  Although, there’s a very limited variety of sci-fi films made and released in India. In this write-up we will talk about some of the lesser-known sci-fi Bollywood film that tried luck on Indian silver screen.  One of the most popular and blockbuster sci-fi film made in India was the Hrithik Roshan and Preity Zinta starrer ‘Koi Mil Gaya’. This film was followed by multiple sequences because the audience loved the story. Besides ‘Koi Mil Gaya’, other films in the genre like ‘Attack: Part One’, ‘Aa Dekhen Zara’, ‘Mr X’ and ‘Baar Baar Dekho’ are some other names in this genre which are known to public.  But, in this article we’ll talk about the lesser known movies in the sci-fi genre. 

Jaane Hoga Kya (2006)

all that trending Image credit: YouTube Jaane Hoga Kya is a lesser-known sci-fi Bollywood film starring Aftab Shivdasani, Bipasha Basu, Preeti Jhangiani, Rahul Dev and Paresh Rawal had a story about a scientist whose plan was to create a human clone. All his plans got in vain when his own clone goes on a killing spree. 

Alag (2006)

all that trending Image Credit: BollywoodProduct.com Alag is a lesser-known scientific film starring Akshay Kapoor and Dia Mirza was directed by Ashu Trikha. The story revolved around a man who was a superhuman, and he was abducted by a scientist who wanted to control his mind. 

Shree (2013)

all that trending Image Credit: Bollywood Hungama Shree is a lesser-known scientific film starring Hussain Kuwajerwala, Anjali Patel, Shivani Taksale and KC Shankar, was a story about a scientific experiment which went wrong. The film was directed by Rajesh Bachchani. 

Elaan (1971) 

all that trending Image Credit: WhatsnewonNetflix Elaan was a historic and a lesser known scientific film about an atomic ring that was created to make humans invisible. The film was directed by K Ramanlal and starred by Vinod Mehra, Rekha and Vinod Khanna. The story line of this  movie is counted as one of the unique stories conceived in that era. 

Shikari (1963)

all that trending Image Credit: BollywoodProduct.com Shikari starring veteran actors like Ajit, Helen, Ragini, Madam Puri and K N Singh, is a lesser-known scientific movie about a crazy scientist who wishes to execute experiments on humans to make them apes. The film got incredibly popular in that era, and its songs also acquired the market.  These were some of the lesser known sci-fi films produced in India.  Bollywood hasn’t progressed much in this genre, and only time will tell the future plans of producers and directors in India.
