SRK’s Old Video Saying ‘Aryan Can Do Drugs’ Goes Viral

On Sunday, the Narcotics Control Bureau conducted a raid at a rave party on a cruise liner off from Mumbai to Goa. In this raid, the drug department arrested Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan. The NCB detained Aryan for allegedly possessing, selling and consuming banned drugs after officials raided the rave party on the Cordelia Cruise Ship that was heading towards Goa.

The Viral Video

On Monday, Aryan Khan was produced before the Bombay High Court, represented by well-known advocate Satish Mahashinde. The lawyer had also handled cases of Rhea Chakraborty and Salman Khan earlier. After the proceedings, the Bombay High Court did not grant bail to Aryan Khan and extended his custody till 7th October. After the incident, both Shah Rukh Khan and Aryan Khan are trending on all social media platforms. Amid all these chaos, an old video of Shah Rukh Khan from Rendezvous with Simi Garewal show is going viral on social media in which he jokingly says: “No, not at all. I’ve just told him when he is 3 or 4 years old he can run after girls, smoke as much as he wants, he can do drugs, he can have sex, he can womanise,” SRK gave the light-hearted statement when Simi Garewal asked him if he is going to spoil his son.

Apart from Aryan Khan, 2 others, including Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha, have also been arrested in connection to the drug bust case. All 3 of them have been booked under Sections 8 (c), 20 (b), 27, and 35 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Bollywood Extends Support To SRK

Meanwhile, the Bollywood fraternity has extended its support to Shah Rukh Khan and his son Aryan Khan over the drug bust case matter. Reacting to the news, interior designer and ex-wife of Hrithik Roshan, Sussanne Khan, wrote: “I think this is not about Aryan Khan, as he was unfortunately at the wrong place at the wrong time, this situation is being made an example to drive home the excitement that some people get as they have a witch hunt on people from Bollywood. It’s sad n unfair as he is a good kid. I stand by Gauri n Shahrukh,”

Actor Pooja Bhatt tweeted: “I stand in solidarity with you @iamsrk. Not that you need it. But I Do. This too shall pass,” Actor Sunil Shetty also extended his support for Aryan Khan and said that one should not assume that he is guilty. Shetty said: “When a raid is conducted at a place, many people are taken into custody. We assume that a particular boy must have consumed it (drugs). The process is on. Let’s give that child a breather. Let real reports come out,”

Taking to Twitter, director Hansal Mehta tweeted: “It is painful for a parent having to deal with a child getting into trouble. It gets compounded when people begin to arrive at judgements before the law takes its course. It is disrespectful and unfair to the parent and to the parent-child relationship. With you @iamsrk,”

On Sunday, following Aryan Khan’s arrest, Bollywood actor Salman Khan visited Shah Rukh’s residence Mannat in Mumbai. Monday evening, Gauri Khan’s close friends in the industry, including Neelam Kothani, Seema Khan, and Maheep Kapoor, visited Mannat to be with SRK’s family during the challenging phase. Not only Bollywood celebrities but some politicians have also extended their support to SRK and his family. While speaking about the incident, senior Congress leader Shashi Tharoor said: “I am no fan of recreational drugs & haven’t ever tried any, but I am repelled by the ghoulish epicaricacy displayed by those now witch-hunting @iamsrk on his son’s arrest. Have some empathy, folks. The public glare is bad enough; no need to gleefully rub a 23yr old’s face in it,”

NCB’s Stance On Targeting Bollywood

Meanwhile, many people have put allegations on NCB for targeting only Bollywood. The drug bust case is being led by NCB Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede, who has categorically denied that the drug department is only targeting Bollywood. Mr Wankhede said: “In the last year, we have booked a total of 105 cases in 10 months. That’s an average of 10-12 cases every month. Now you tell me, out of those 105 cases, how many are celebrities? I’ll tell, a handful of them at best. This year alone, we’ve made more than 310 arrests. How many of those are celebrities? Everyone would know because that’s the only thing that is talked about. We’ve seized illegal substances worth Rs 150 crores this year. Has anyone spoken about that?” While targeting the media reporting, Mr Wankhede said: “There’s a valid reason though. When we arrest someone, the media will play it up only when the arrested person is a known face. But instead of appreciating our efforts, we get blamed for targeting that popular celeb,”

WhatsApp Chats Of Aryan Khan

During the raid, the Narcotics Control Bureau seized 5 grams of MDMA, 21 grams of Charas, 22 pills of Ecstasy, 13 grams of cocaine and Rs 133,000 cash from the Goa-bound cruise ship. During the hearings of the drug bust case, the NCB told the court that they have recovered incriminating and shocking material from Aryan Khan’s WhatsApp chats which showed international drug trafficking. They also told the court that Aryan Khan used codes names to discuss the mode of payments.
