The Magical Wedding of Former Miss World and Junior Bachchan

The fairytale wedding of Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan took place on 20th April 2007, at Bachchan's residence in, Prateeksha, Mumbai. The stunning couple will complete 14 years of togetherness this year, and we still can't get over the royal and classic wedding of Mr. And Mrs.Bachchan. The incredible couple of Bollywood did manage to keep their relationship a secret, and everyone was shocked when the wedding announcement came. The couple got engaged on 14th January 2007. Later, Abhishek Bachchan opened up about the proposal : "I was filming in New York for a movie. And, I used to stand on the balcony of my hotel room and wish that, 'One day, wouldn't it be nice if I was together with her (Aishwarya), married. Years later, we were there for the premiere of Guru. After the premiere, we were back in the hotel. So, I took her to the very same balcony, and I asked her to marry me." Reportedly, Abhishek proposed to Aishwarya in Toronto, Canada, and the miss world said yes! As it was a Bachchan wedding, everything had to larger-than-life, starting from the wedding cards to the decor to Ash and Abhi’s wedding outfit. Everything was beyond perfect. Unlike most Bollywood weddings, the Abhi-Ash wedding was a closed affair. According to reports, even neighbours were instructed not to allow any media access to the family affair. A high level of privacy was maintained as Bachchan’s wanted the wedding to be a closed affair, and only near and dear ones were invited. The theme of the wedding card was gold and red. It had three golden boxes with “AA” on them and held together with a ribbon. The first box was a formal invite from both families. The second box had 24 sweets, especially made from using Swiss chocolates. The third box had a multicoloured Lord Ganesha Idol with shlokas and a poem written by Abhishek’s grandfather Harivansh Rai Bachchan. The card also had both the parent's signatures which made it even more special and unique. The list also included some Bollywood names like Preity Zinta, Karan Johar, Kajol, Ajay Devgan, and Sonali Bendre. The wedding took place in both Bengali and Tullu traditions incorporating both the flavours of India. The grand celebrations of Abhi-Ash wedding came to an end after the couple head off to Andhra Pradesh for seeking blessings at Tirumala Venkateswara Temple in a private jet accompanied by the Ambanis.
