The Alleged Amitabh-Rekha Affair That Made Jaya Bachchan Uncomfortable!
During the 80s, a rumour hit the headlines about Amitabh Bachchan’s alleged affair with Rekha. Although Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan have always maintained silence over the matter, Rekha never shied from publicly speaking on the topic. Maintaining her stand as valid, Rekha recently shared a story about an incident where her intimate scenes with Amitabh Bachchan in a film had hurt Jaya Bachchan.
The incident is from the Last Film of Amitabh Bachchan And Rekha Muqaddar Ka Sikandar preview show. In an interview with a media channel, Rekha shared that she saw Jaya Bachchan crying while watching those scenes.
Adding about the incident, the veteran diva had said: “Once, I was looking at the whole (Bachchan) family through the projection room when they came to see the trial show of Muqaddar Ka Sikandar. Jaya was sitting in the front row, and he (Amitabh) and his parents were in the row behind her. They couldn’t see her as clearly as I could. And during our love scenes, I could see tears pouring down her face,”
Muqaddar Ka Sikandar was one of the last collaborations between Rekha and Amitabh until Yash Chopra brought Amitabh, Rekha and Jaya back for the 1981 movie Silsila, which was one epic Bollywood drama cum reality of the love triangle. In the same interview, Bhanurekha Ganesan further added: “A week later, everybody in the industry was telling me that he has made it clear to his producers that he was not going to work with me,”
After the rumours became the talk of the town, it is alleged that Jaya and Rekha had drifted apart. Earlier, the two divas had a beautiful relationship but after the incident, a significant sign of sourness was observed in their bond.
