What Is The Beef Remark That Stopped Ranbir-Alia To Enter Mahakaleshwar Temple?


On Tuesday, Bollywood actors Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt called off their plan to attend the Sandhya Aarti at Mahakaleshwar temple. The Brahmastra cast cancelled their plan after right-wing groups staged protests outside the Ujjain temple against their upcoming film Brahmastra. Now, #BoycottBrahmastra has been trending all over social media along with Alia Kapoor and Ranbir Kapoor.  The film’s director, Ayan Mukerji, however, attended the Sandhya Aarti by entering the temple's inner sanctum. The photos of which he shared on his Instagram account.  According to media reports, the drama erupted after a few members of Vishwa Hindu Parishad-led Bajrang Dal gathered outside the temple premises to stop Ranbir-Alia from entering the temple premises.  https://twitter.com/allthatrending/status/1567429719926407169

What Is The Beef Remark That Created Ruckus in Brahmastra Promotion? 

As highlighted in some videos, the Hindu extremist group staged the protest over Ranbir Kapoor's decade-old statement where he said: I am a big beef guy,’ The protesters said they wouldn't allow a beef-eater to enter the holy shrine of Baba Mahakal.  In addition to protesting the actor's visit to Mahakaleshwar temple, the protesters also raised slogans against the actors' upcoming film Brahmastra. The protesters claimed that the film's plot hurts the sentiments of Hindus, as the actor has disrespected the Hindu idols in the trailer. However, the cast and crew have actively rejected all the claims and said that Brahmastra instead honours Hinduism and the entire Indian culture.

Big Disappointment For Ranbir Kapoor-Alia Bhatt

Earlier on Tuesday, in an Instagram video, Alia shared her enthusiasm for visiting one of the 12 Jyotirlingas with her husband Ranbir Kapoor and Brahmastra director- Ayan Mukerji. The pictures of Ranbir and Alia surfaced online in which they were seen wearing traditional attire.

However, the protest outside the temple premises made the actors cancel their plans and return to Indore without offering prayers. Meanwhile, the film’s director Ayan reached the temple's inner sanctum and shared his pictures with a caption: “Feel very happy and energised to have visited Mahakaleshwar Temple today… Got the most beautiful darshan… Wanted to make this visit to close the film-making journey on Brahmāstra and to get all the positive energy and blessings for our Release".

Tension Erupts Between Police And Protesters

As learnt by the sources, tension erupted in the temple premises during the protest, as police tried to disperse the crowd with force.  “Prior to the actors' visit, the administration made proper security arrangements at the temple region. However, the actors themselves decided not to enter the premises as the movie director entered the temple premises without any difficulty,” said Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Dr Narottam Mishra. “Since Alia Bhatt is pregnant, she decided not to go to the temple amid the ruckus. Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor returned to Indore without darshan.
