Zoya Akhtar’s ‘The Archies’ To Mark The Debut Of THESE Star Kids!

Filmmaker Zoya Akhtar has begun filming her upcoming Netflix live music film The Archies. The broadcaster has collaborated with Archie Comics on this film, which will be set in the 1960s in India. The Archies reportedly includes star kids including Shah Rukh Khan's daughter Suhana Khan, Sridevi's youngest daughter Khushi Kapoor and Shweta Bachchan Nanda's son, Agastya Nanda, all marking their debut in the Indian cinema world. The Archies is produced by filmmaker Zoya Akhtar and her longtime partner Reema Kagti under their Tiger Baby production house. Kagti took to Instagram and posted a clapboard photo with the caption: “Archie's shooting begins, the first solo production of Tiger Baby #partnerincrime @zoieakhtar @Netflix," Tiger Baby is an Indian film production company owned by film directors Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti. https://www.instagram.com/p/CcecfztP4n6/ “I am super excited to have the chance to bring The Archies to life,” said Zoya Akhtar when the project was announced. “It was a large part of my childhood and teenage years. The characters are iconic and globally loved, which is also why I am a little nervous. I have to make sure the film stokes the nostalgia of a generation that grew up on the comic and yet resonates with the young adults today.” added the filmmaker.  “It's a huge source of pride that the Archie Comics characters and stories resonate with fans globally, and especially in India, for more than 50 years,” said Archie Comics CEO/Publisher Jon Goldwater. “We are thrilled to partner with Netflix and trust Zoya Akhtar and her creative team to deliver a truly unique and exciting take on Archie and friends through the lens of Indian cinema. We know that these characters have global appeal and translating them into other settings and cultures is just the start of what we have planned for future multimedia adaptations.” he further added.  https://www.instagram.com/p/Cci3NPyhGi0/ Pratiksha Rao, Director, Films and Licensing, Netflix India, said: “The characters, adventures and friendships in Archies have found fans across the world for generations. With Archie Comics, Graphic India and Tiger Baby, we have an extraordinary opportunity to recreate the world of Archie comics, this time as a live action musical. Zoya has an incredible and unique ability to make stories and the characters in them relatable, making them feel like they are an extension of our own self. We are thrilled to partner with her in bringing to life the world of Archies to fans and our members in India and around the world.” Although the cast has not been officially announced yet, reports says Suhana will be seen as Veronica Lodge, with Khushi and Agastya starring as Betty Cooper and Archie Andrews, respectively. The trio were also spotted in the film's March collection, reportedly for a costume trial. Even before Suhana Khan’s debut announcement, she has always been in the limelight. During her interview in 2018, she revealed the moment when her mom Gauri Khan, and dad Shah Rukh Khan realised that she is serious about acting. Suhana said: “I don’t think there was any one moment when I decided. Since I was young, I’d do all these accents and impressions. But my parents only realised I was serious about acting when they saw a performance of mine for the first time. I was playing Miranda in a school performance of The Tempest,” Suhana was the only female character who appeared on the stage in that play. Talking about Khushi Kapoor, she has been prepping for her acting debut for a while now, and The Archie will be her first break to the world of showbiz. Janhvi Kapoor had also wished her good luck on Instagram, calling The Archie something “Special”. Meanwhile, Amitabh Bachchan too showered his love on his grandson, Agastya. He recently tweeted: “Agastya .. a new chapter begins in your life and there cannot be greater joy among us all .. my blessings my love and my wishes ever .. do well .. AND keep the flag flying !!!”  The Archies which was announced late last year on Netflix India has officially reached the production stage. The film, sponsored by Archie Andrews, head of Archie Comics, is unrelated to the Bollywood version of Archie, which was announced in 2018 and would see a version of the American series Riverdale gang coming to India. Archie Comics continues to be very popular in the Indian culture, as it has inspired many cinematic actors over the years.
