The Met Gala 2022 theme was ‘In America: An Anthology of Fashion’, and the dress code was ‘Gilded Glamour and White Tie’. Dressing for such a massive event of the Met Gala can give you a lot of pressure, but there’s something about Poonawalla’s penchant for dramatic outfits that tells us it’s not a challenge she shies away from. Styled by Anaita Shroff Adajania, there is a conversational push-and-pull between the flowing drape of her bespoke embroidered gold Sabyasachi sari juxtaposed sharply against the architectural lines of her armour-Esque gold metallic Schiaparelli couture bustier—a signature of Creative Director Daniel Roseberry’s reimagined vision for the Italian Maison—that gives a look almost kinetic energy.

Fashion to me is wearable art. Art in this sense is communication—it allows people from different cultures and times to communicate with each other via images, sounds and stories.” she further added.

Billie Eilish was chosen as the best-dressed celebrity of the night as she walked the Met Gala red carpet in a period Gucci pale green and cream silk corset gown with a goth punk twist. The singer was the winner of the night with her jaw-dropping look.
