Is There Any Such Thing As Eating Too Much Fruits?


Do you love consuming fruits? Well, it is hard not to because they are just so delicious! It cannot be disputed that fruits are replete with nutrients, and eating them is a healthy habit. That said, there can be certain side effects of eating a lot of fruits or eating them in the wrong manner.  Even though there are countless health benefits of fruits. But is eating a lot of fruit bad for weight loss? Can you eat too much fruit? Should you focus on the quantity of fruit that you eat every day?  Let us check out some of the many side effects of eating fruits in excess!

  • Heart Health, Diabetes, And Weight Gain
Eating too much fructose that is present in the majority of fruits can result in diabetes, obesity, and insulin resistance. This leads to the accumulation of fat, disrupting the normal function and glucose intolerance of the body. Furthermore, it also leads to an increase in the levels of uric acid and blood pressure. 
  • Digestive Issues
Too much fructose consumption can also result in the Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). The symptoms and signs of IBS are bloating, diarrhea, abdominal pain, constipation, and indigestion. You can overcome IBS by consuming a diet that is low on fructose. 
  • Risks Of A Fruit-Based Diet
Eating only raw fruits is considered to be a healthy diet by some, but the truth is that this diet is super unhealthy. Following this diet prohibits the consumption of other important food groups such as carbs, proteins, and whole grains, and you end up losing a lot of essential nutrients such as iron, Vitamin B, calcium, omega three, and much more. In addition to that, this diet can be extremely bad for people with PCOS, PCOD, insulin resistance, and diabetes.  

How Much Fruits Should You Consume For Good Health? 

That said, it does not mean that fruits are bad for you or you stop eating them altogether. You must eat fruits in moderation. A good tip is to try to eat 2-3 fruits every day and make sure they have different colors and types so that you get the maximum health benefits. Remember that you should not eat more than 2 bowls of fruits in a day.
