Tuberculosis – Types, Symptoms, and Cure

Tuberculosis most commonly known as TB is an infectious disease. Most of us believe that it affects the lungs, although it can also affect any  other organ of the human body. TB is fatal, but in most cases, it is curable when diagnosed early and treated by specialists.  Types of Tuberculosis   TB is majorly of two types:

  • Latent or Inactive TB: Under this type of TB the bacteria is present in the infected body but is not active enough to make it sick or contagious. The immune system fights bacteria and helps protect the person, thus keeping them safe. Moreover, under this type of TB, the infected person does not act as a carrier of the disease.

  • Active TB: This type of TB is serious and shows certain symptoms. Our immune system is unable to fight the bacteria, making us sick. In most cases, a person suffering from this type of TB can further spread the disease, causing infection to others.

Tuberculosis Symptoms

Usually, TB affects the lungs along with other parts of our body. So, the symptoms differ from person to person according to the part of the body affected.  Most common Tuberculosis symptoms include:

Tuberculosis Causes

Usually, TB spreads through the air from one person to another. As per the doctors, TB bacteria enters the air from a TB active person when they cough or sneeze. The persons nearby are likely to get further infected by the polluted air around them.  Although TB germs are spread through the air, it does not spread too easily. An individual after spending a lot of time in contact with an infectious person can develop TB.  TB bacteria are known to spread through air only and you can’t catch them by:
  • Shaking hands.
  •  Sharing food or drinks.
  • Touching something that an infected person has touched.

Medical science has advanced to cure TB patients with various antibiotic medicines. Usually, a doctor considers your age, health, TB type while prescribing the treatment. Ensure to take regular medicines and never skip the routine, as it will make TB harder to treat. TB is a preventive and curable disease. Patients suffering from this disease should not treat it as a fatal disease. Meet a doctor and get yourself cured if you are suffering from TB.
