It is one of the oldest Hindu temples in India. Somnath is a mix of two words Som and Nath, Som means Moon God, and Nath means protector. Somnath refers to the protector of the Moon God. According to Hindu mythology, when the father-in-law of Moon God cursed him to lose his luster, Lord Shiva cured his illness. And then the Moon God built this temple in order to honor Lord Shiva and named it Somnath. It is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of India.

Kedarnath, surrounded by glaciers and snow-clad peaks, is one of the world’s most sacred temples. It is believed that Pandavas built this temple during Mahabharat to atone for their sins. The temple is situated in the Himalayan ranges at the height of 3,583 meters.
Ramanathaswamy Temple

According to Hindu mythology, Lord Rama, along with his wife Sita, landed on the shore of Rameswaram after defeating the demon king Ravana. This temple is one of the four pious Char Dhams.
