Alt News Co-Founder Mohammad Zubair Arrested For Allegedly Hurting Religious Sentiments

On Monday, the Delhi Police arrested Alt News Co-Founder Mohammad Zubair under Indian Penal Code Sections 153 (promotion of enmity between different groups on the grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language) and 295 A (outraging religious feelings of any class). He was produced before the Duty Magistrate in Burari, after which he was sent to one-day police custody. The FIR of Mohammad Zubair read: "These words and the picture found to be used by Mohammed Zubair (@zoo_bear) against a particular religious community and are highly provocative and more than sufficient to incite the feeling of hatred amongst people which can be detrimental for maintenance of public tranquillity in the society." "Transmission and publication of such posts have been deliberately done by Mohammed Zubair (@zoo_bear) through electronic media to insult the religious feelings of a particular community with the intent to provoke breach of the peace, which attracts offence under section 153A/295 IPC," added the FIR. Currently, Mohammad Zubair is lodged at the Dwarka Cyber Cell lockup, and a 30-minute visit by an advocate will be allowed today. As per the Delhi Police, the action against Mohammad Zubair is based on an alleged tweet made by his Twitter handle over which they received a complaint from another Twitter user. The user claimed that their religious sentiments were hurt. Pratik Sinha, the Co-Founder of Alt News and Zubair's colleague, said that no FIR copy has been given to them despite repeated requests. He also added that no prior notice for the FIR was given, which is mandatory under law for the sections that he has been arrested. The Mohammad Zubair arrest was made over a tweet in which the Twitter handle of Mohammad Zubair posted a picture showing a signboard of 'Hotel Honeymoon' changed to 'Hotel Hanuman'. The action was taken by the Delhi Police after being tagged by another Twitter account and not against a formal complaint. This is not the first that an FIR has been registered against Mohammad Zubair. He has earlier been booked for calling three leaders 'Hatemongers'.  https://twitter.com/free_thinker/status/1541429247184515074 https://twitter.com/somyalakhani/status/1541443639716548612

Maharashtra Crisis: Rebel Leader Eknath Shinde To Approach The Governor For Prompting A Floor Test

As per recent reports, Shiv Sena rebel leader Eknath Shinde will soon approach the Maharashtra governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari to inform him about his decision to withdraw support from the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government and thus, prompting a floor test. After the Maharashtra Assembly Deputy Speaker Narhari Zirwal served disqualification notice to the Eknath Shinde camp, Shinde moved the Supreme Court. The Apex Court then notified the Deputy Speaker, Secretary of Maharashtra State Legislative Assembly, and others over the disqualification notice. Eknath Shinde called the Supreme Court's notice to the Deputy Speaker a 'victory of Balasaheb's Hindutva'. Meanwhile, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut informed that he would be skipping the Enforcement Directorate summon on June 28 and said: "I am not linked with any of the companies mentioned by the ED. Tomorrow, I will not be able to go to ED as there is a rally in Alibaug which I have to address. It's a legal battle. Arrest me if you have orders from BJP to arrest me," "We all were aware that such action would be initiated against some of us… to stop us from fighting back. I will not be scared by such bogus cases and will not go to Guwahati." added the Shiv Sena MP. As the Eknath Shinde camp is strategizing to approach the Maharashtra Governor, it will be difficult for the Uddhav Thackeray-led MVA government to prove its majority on the floor of the house if the 50 plus MLAs in the Eknath Shinde camp were to stick together. The Shinde camp's confidence stems from the fact that it holds a two-thirds majority in the Shiv Sena. It is claiming the support of 39 MLAs out of the total 55 MLAs of the Shiv Sena party. With Congress' 34, NCP's 53 and Sena's 16 MLAs, the aggregate strength of the MVA government stands at 111 - 33 short of the halfway mark (144). The sources have said that even if the remaining 19 members of the independents/smaller parties out of the total 29 aligns with the MVA, the figure won't cross 130.  https://youtu.be/fsFqJjibMTY

Sidhu Moosewala Murder: Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi To Be Produced In Amritsar Court Today

Gangster Lawrence Bishnoi was brought to the State Special Operation Cell (SSOC) in Amritsar, who is said to be the mastermind behind the killing of singer-turned-politician Sidhu Moosewala. Today, Lawrence Bishnoi will be produced in the Amritsar Court, and the security has been tightened in the city for the same. On June 14, The Patiala House Court of Delhi allowed the Punjab Police to arrest gangster Lawrence Bishnoi in connection with Sidhu Moosewala's murder. After the investigation, it was revealed that Bishnoi was a key conspirator in the murder case. On May 29, Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Mansa district. The murder of the singer-turned-politician took place a day after the Punjab Police withdrew his security. Meanwhile, accused Lawrence Bishnoi's father had filed a plea at the Supreme Court challenging the transit remand of Bishnoi to the Punjab Police. However, the Apex Court, while listing the matter for hearing on July 11, also observed that since the murder has taken place in Punjab, the Punjab Police should probe the case. The court also asked Lawrence's father to approach the Punjab and Haryana High Court for legal aid counsel.  https://youtu.be/DNuaJQD1zHY
