Arab Nations Condemns Nupur Sharma’s Controversial Remarks Against Prophet Mohammad

On Monday, Saudi Arabia also joined the Arab Nations in condemning and denouncing the controversial remarks of (now suspended) Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Nupur Sharma that she made against Prophet Mohammad. The Foreign Ministry of Saudi Arabia tweeted: “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses its condemnation and denunciation of the statements made by the spokeswoman of the Indian Bharatiya Janata Party, which insulted the Prophet Mohammed, peace and blessings be upon him,” However, the Ministry also welcomed BJP’s instant action of suspending Nupur Sharma from her position in the political party after she made the derogatory comment against Prophet Mohammad in a Television debate. After Qatar, Iran and Kuwait, Saudi Arabia became the fourth nation to internationally condemn former BJP leader Nupur Sharma for her controversial remarks. After her comments, Nupur Sharma was suspended by the Bhartiya Janata Party. After her suspension, Nupur Sharma took to Twitter and apologised by saying that “it was never her intention to hurt anyone’s religious feelings.” Amid protests from Muslim groups over the controversial remarks of Nupur Sharma, the BJP also issued a statement clearing its stance and aimed at assuaging the concerns of minorities. Distancing itself from such members, the BJP added that it respects all religions and strongly denounces the insult of any religious personality. 

Covid-Bulletin: India Registers 4,518 New Covid-19 Cases; Recovery Rate At 98.73%

According to the latest data released by the union health ministry, India has registered 4,518 new covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The active caseload of the country currently stands at 25,782. Meanwhile, the nation has recorded 2,779 recoveries in the previous 24 hours, and the total recoveries have reached 4,26,30,852. The daily and weekly positivity rates currently stand at 1.62% and 0.91%. As per the Indian Council of Medical Research, the country has conducted 85.29 crore covid-19 tests so far. On the vaccination front, India has administered 194.12 crore covid-19 vaccine doses so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.

ED Raids Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain’s Home a Week After His Arrest

On Monday, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) raided the home of Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain nearly a week after his arrest in connection to a money laundering case. The news amid a political row brewing between the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The officials said Jain’s Delhi home and other locations are being raided as part of a follow up in the case. During an address last week, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal told Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ‘arrest all AAP leaders’“I have come to know from the same sources that in the next few days, the central government is going to arrest Manish Sisodia. The centre has asked all central agencies to prepare a fake case against Sisodia and arrest him,” claimed the AAP leader. “I would request the PM to put us all together in jail rather than picking us one by one and use all central agencies to probe us. Ask all your agencies to take out investigations against all of us at once. Get done with it once and for all,” he added. Mr Satyendar Jain was arrested under the criminal sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act or PMLA in connection to a 2017 Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) case which alleged that the AAP leader and his wife Poonam Jain had amassed disproportionate assets worth Rs 1.47 crore between February 2015 and May 2017 which is almost double than their known sources of income.

Sidhu Moosewala Murder Case: Punjab Police Arrests Accused Devendra Alias Kala; Makes Third Arrest In The Case

Last night, the police arrested the third suspect in the Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala murder case. The high profile shooting case has left the entire entertainment industry in a state of shock. The third suspect, Devendra alias Kala, was arrested from Haryana’s Fatehabad based on interrogation from two other detained suspects. Meanwhile, the Punjab Police has arrested two accused, Pavan and Naseeb, from Bhirdana. On May 29, Punjabi singer-turned-politician Sidhu Moosewala was shot dead by unidentified attackers in the Mansa district of Punjab. Hours after the killing, Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar claimed responsibility for the murder in a Facebook post along with Lawrence Bishnoi. A Delhi Police special cell is already interrogating Lawrence Bishnoi, who is currently lodged in Tihar jail on multiple charges of murder, robbery etc.
