Bhagwant Mann To Be Sworn In As Punjab CM From Shaheed Bhagat Singh’s Village

After winning with a thumping majority in Punjab, Bhagwant Mann is all set to be sworn in as Punjab’s next Chief Minister, succeeding Charanjit Singh Channi. The AAP leader will be sworn in at Khatkar Kalan, the village where freedom fighter Bhagat Singh was born. Comedian-turned-politician Bhagwant Mann will be the youngest Chief Minister of the state since the 1970s. Delhi CM and AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal will also be present for the swearing-in ceremony. Taking to Twitter, Mr Kejriwal wrote: “It’s a big day for Punjab today. In this golden morning of new hope, the entire Punjab will today come together and take a pledge to make it a prosperous Punjab. To witness that historic moment, I have also left for Khatkar Kalan, the native village of Shaheed Bhagat Singh,” The Aam Aadmi Party achieved a landslide victory in the Assembly Elections by winning 92 seats in the 117-seat Punjab assembly. Bhagwant Mann resigned as a Lok Sabha MP yesterday and also urged all men to wear basanti (yellow) turbans and women to war basanti dupatta.  

Covid-Bulletin: India Registers 2,876 New Covid-19 Cases; Recovery Rate At 98.72%

According to the latest data released by the union health ministry, India has recorded 2,876 new covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The active caseload of the country currently stands at 32,811. Meanwhile, daily recoveries continue to outnumber active covid-19 cases with registering 3,884 recoveries in the previous 24 hours. The total recoveries have reached 4,24,50,055. The daily and weekly positivity rates currently stand at 0.38% and 0.44%, respectively. As per the Indian Council of Medical Research, the country has conducted 78.05 crore covid-19 tests so far. On the vaccination front, India has administered 180.60 crore covid-19 vaccine doses so far under the nationwide vaccination drive. 

India Begins Covid-19 Vaccination For Children Aged 12 To 14 Years

From today, India started the covid-19 vaccination process for children aged 12 to 14 years as part of the nationwide vaccination drive. The co-morbidity for people aged 60 and above condition has also been removed. Now everyone aged 60 and above can take booster doses or precautionary doses. Taking to Twitter, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote: “Today is an important day in India’s efforts to vaccinate our citizens. Now onwards, youngsters in the 12-14 age group are eligible for vaccines, and all those above 60 are eligible for precaution doses. I urge people in these age groups to get vaccinated,” Only Corbevax vaccine would be used for vaccinating children aged 12 to 14 years as stated by union health secretary Rajesh Bhushan. As per the new guidelines, two doses of Biological E’s intramuscular vaccine, Corbevax, will be administered at an interval of 28 days. For people aged above 60, the guidelines said that the eligibility for getting precautionary doses is the completion of 9 months from the date of the administration of the second dose, and the booster dose would be with the same vaccine as the primary vaccine. Interestingly, National Vaccination day is celebrated in India on 16th March every year

Russia-Ukraine War: President Zelensky Calls Monday Talks With Russia “Pretty Good”

Amid the Russia-Ukraine war, both parties are trying to end the conflict on the table. While all previous talks between Russia and Ukraine have failed, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called the Monday talks with Russia “pretty good” and also added that “Russia has already begun to understand that they will not achieve anything by war”. Signalling the possibility of some progress, a member of the Ukrainian delegation, Mykhailo Podolyak, said: “We’ll continue tomorrow. A very difficult and viscous negotiation process. There are fundamental contradictions. But there is certainly room for compromise,”

The Kashmir Files: Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi Starrer Crosses The 60 Crore Mark

Vivek Agnihotri’s latest release, The Kashmir Files, is taking the box office by storm as it crossed the 60 crore mark. Dominating the Indian box office and after having a fantastic weekend, the film’s total collection stands at Rs 60.20 crore as of now. As per experts, the number is going to grow, and The Kashmir Files might also touch the 100 crore mark soon. Calling the Anupam Kher, Darshan Kumar, and Pallavi Joshi starrer film ‘Tsunami’, Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted: “#TheKashmirFiles is a TSUNAMI at the #BO… FANTASTIC TRENDING, as footfalls, occupancy, numbers continue to soar… Day 5 higher than all previous days… BLOCKBUSTER… Fri 3.55 cr, Sat 8.50 cr, Sun 15.10 cr, Mon 15.05 cr, Tue 18 cr. Total: ? 60.20 cr. #India biz,” The film is based on the exodus of the Kashmiri Pandits community that took place in Jammu and Kashmir during the 1990s.

Godfather: Salman Khan Joins The Cast Of Chiranjeevi Starrer

On Wednesday, Bollywood actor Salman Khan joined the cast of Chiranjeevi starrer Godfather, which is the remake of Malayalam blockbuster Lucifer. Welcoming Salman Khan, South superstar Chiranjeevi tweeted: “Welcome aboard #Godfather, Bhai @BeingSalmanKhan! Your entry has energized everyone & the excitement has gone to next level. Sharing screen with you is an absolute joy. Your presence will no doubt give that magical #KICK to the audience.” The film is being helmed by Jayam Mohan Raja and also features Nayanthara and Satya Dev. The film’s shooting is underway in Mumbai, and as per sources, Salman Khan will step into Prithviraj Sukumaran’s shoes in the Telegu Remake of Lucifer. Godfather will also mark the debut of Salman Khan in the Telegu film industry
