Covid-19: India Sees A Dip In Active Cases, Reports Less Than 3.5 Lakh Cases

In the last 24 hours, the total tally of the recorded covid-19 cases has reached 2, 22, 96, 414, according to the health bulletin of the Union health ministry. If compared to Monday, the daily tally of active cases has seen a slight dip, and new fatalities have decreased as well. The cumulative recoveries have reached 1,90,27,304. Currently, the inoculation drive is at its third phase with vaccinating people aged between 18-44. The tally of administered vaccination doses in the country stands at 17,27,10, 066 as of 10th May.

"We Have A Roadmap To Vaccinate Mumbai In Three Weeks," Says Maharashtra Minister Aditya Thackeray

As Maharashtra has been the worst-hit state by covid-19 in the country, state minister Aditya Thackeray is considering the possibility of directly procuring vaccines for the use of citizens in Mumbai. Mentioning about the roadmap to vaccinate Mumbai in three weeks, Thackeray said that cost of the vaccines is not a factor, and the state government is looking to procure them at the earliest. The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Uddhav Thackeray, has asked PM Narendra Modi for a different app other than CO-WIN to ease the vaccination appointment procedure.

A Research Published In The American Journal Of Therapeutics Says Regular Use Of Ivermectin May Reduce The Risk Of Contracting Covid-19

A study led by the Front Line Covid-19 Critical Care Alliance (FLCCC) says that regular use of oral antiparasitic drug ivermectin may reduce the risk of contracting covid-19. President of the FLCCC, Pierre Kory, said: "We applied the gold standard to qualify the data reviewed before concluding that ivermectin can end this pandemic". The state government of Goa has decided to give ivermectin to its citizens to prevent complications arising out of covid-19 infections.

Twitter Donates USD 15 Million To Three NGO'S To Help Address The Covid-19 Crisis In India

The microblogging site Twitter has donated USD 15 million to show their support in India's fight against the covid-19 pandemic. Announcing about the same, Twitter CEO Jack Patrick tweeted that the said amount has been donated to three NGOs - Aid India, Sewa International USA and CARE. World Health Organisation has classified the coronavirus B.1.617 as a variant of global concern.
