Breaking: Kannada Powerstar Puneeth Rajkumar Passes Away, Aged 46

On Friday noon, Kannada star Puneeth Rajkumar passed away after the actor suffered massive cardiac arrest. Leaving his fans heartbroken with his tragic demise, Puneeth Rajkumar left for his heavenly abode, aged 46. The Kannada actor was immediately rushed to the Vikram Hospital today and admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after he complained of severe chest pain. 

Though Puneeth was immediately taken to the hospital, the doctor released a statement quoting that the actor’s condition was severe and the medical staff were trying their best to save him. The official statement from the Vikram Hospital read: “He (Puneeth Rajkumar) was brought to the emergency department, Vikram Hospital with history of chest pain at 11:40 am, he was non-responsive and was in Cardiac Asystole and Advanced cardiac resuscitation has been initiated,” There are reports of heavy traffic jam and shops being shut in Bengaluru city. 

Reporting about the same, new agency ANI tweeted: “Actor Puneeth Rajkumar was admitted after suffering chest pain at 11.30 am. Trying our best to treat him. His condition is serious. Can’t say anything as of now. His condition was bad when brought to hospital, treatment on in ICU: Dr Ranganath Nayak, Vikram Hospital, Bengaluru,” 

The tragic news of actor Puneeth Rajkumar has shaken the entire film fraternity, and many of Puneeth’s peers and close friends from the industry are reaching the hospital. Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has also reached the Vikram hospital. As per LIVE updates, Puneeth’s elder brother Shiva Rajkumar and other family members have entered the hospital. 

Son of veteran actor and one of the greatest stars of Indian cinema Rajkumar, Puneeth Rajkumar is popularly known as ‘Appu’, after he played his first lead role in the 2002 film by the same name. He is also known as the Powerstar of the Kannada Film Industry and has a huge fan following, especially in South India.

Being one of the highest-paid actors in the Kannada film industry, Puneeth Rajkumar’s memorable films include Appu(2002), Abhi (2003), Veera Kannadiga (2004), Mourya (2004), Aakash (2005), Milana (2007), Vamshi(2008), among others. Puneeth has won the Best Actor award thrice (Hudugaru, Anna Bond, and Raajakumara) at the South Indian International Movie Awards. He also received the Youth Icon Of South Indian Cinema (Male) recognition in 2013.

Before his shocking demise, the Kannada star recently wrapped up the shoot of James, his second collaboration with Priya Anand. Puneeth was also gearing up to work on the highly-anticipated film Dvitva in collaboration with Pawan Kumar. On the big screen, Puneeth was last seen in the movie Yuvarathnaa. 

According to the live updates, Kannada Star Puneeth Rajkumar’s last remains are being taken to Kanteerava Stadium, Bengaluru. Fans have been allowed to pay their last respects to Puneeth Rajkumar.
