ED Summons To Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi Triggers War of Words Between BJP and Congress

ED Summons To Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi Triggers War of Words Between BJP and Congress

After the Enforcement Directorate (ED) summoned Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Congress member Rahul Gandhi for questioning in connection to a money laundering case linked to the National Herald Newspaper, it started a war of words between the ruling Bhartiya Janata Party and opposition parties. Taking to Twitter, Congress senior leader P Chidambaram said: "Money-laundering without money is like alleging purse snatching without a purse. It is like alleging that you were found unauthorizedly swimming in a pool that had no water. You can think of more examples (each one more absurd than the other)" The opposition party alleged that the BJP is using 'puppet agencies to intimidate political opponents. Rajya Sabha MP and senior lawyer Abhishek Manu Singhvi revealed that ED had closed the case in 2015, but new officials were brought into the agency to open the matter. He said: "Friends, this is a part of a larger disease. A disease which will consume the ruling party ultimately. The disease is one of attacking every political party purely on vendetta terms from Kashmir to Kanyakumari, from Farooq Abdullah to DMK functionaries, from Gujarat to West Bengal, from Mevani to Mamata Banerjee and the family of Mamata Banerjee," "The BJP has brought or tried to bring malafide every political opponent under the net of puppet agencies like ED, CBI, IT etc.," he added. Reacting to opposition parties' allegations, BJP National President JP Nadda said: "Have you ever seen a criminal say I'm criminal? They'll, of course, deny it. Documents are proof. If a charge sheet is filed, you'd approach the court to get it quashed, but they sought bail. It means they're guilty," https://twitter.com/PChidambaram_IN/status/1532040326537519112 https://twitter.com/jagdishthakormp/status/1531906604492529666

Jammu & Kashmir: Kashmiri Pandits Threatens To Leave The Valley Amid Security Concerns

On Wednesday, the Jammu & Kashmir administration and protesting Kashmiri Pandits came face to face as the security forces disallowed street protests. The Kashmiri Pandit employees who have been recruited under the Prime Minister's Rehabilitation Package since 2008 are fear-stricken, especially after the indiscriminate killing of Rahul Bhat, a Pandit government employee and are threatening the government of leaving the Kashmir valley. A Pandit employee said: "No Pandit employee was allowed to leave their locations by the police on Tuesday," "Many of our neighbours living in the transit camps are in a deep cycle of depression because of Bhat's killing. We see a bleak future for our kids in Kashmir. The latest killing of the schoolteacher, Rajni Bala, has further disturbed us mentally. It seems our lives have no value. If the government does not come up with concrete measures, we will go for mass migration and leave for Jammu tomorrow," said another. The Kashmir administration is in talks with the leaders of the Pandit employees. However, it is quite clear that the central government is opposed to the idea of the migration of Pandit employees from the Kashmir valley. "We returned to Kashmir on the promise that the situation has improved here. However, since October last year, Kashmiri Pandits have been targeted. What is our fault? Why are they doing it? We are clueless. I came here in 2010 to earn my livelihood. I am upset with those who promised us a safe and secure atmosphere in Kashmir on our return. Why are they silent now" said another Kashmiri Pandit. The target killings of Kashmiri Pandits started in 2020, and nearly 17 members of the community have been killed so far. https://youtu.be/TKs6fFPUcF0
