Eknath Shinde To Take Oath As Maharashtra CM Today Informs Devendra Fadnavis

As the Eknath Shinde rebel camp walked into the streets of Mumbai, they were welcomed by many supporters. Little they know, they are greeting the next Chief Minister of Maharashtra. Addressing in a joint conference, former Chief Minister and BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis announced that Shiv Sena rebel MLA Eknath Shinde will be taking the oath as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra with the support of the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP). The oath taking ceremony of Eknath Shinde as the new Maharashtra CM will happen at 7:30 PM today. Fadnavis also stated that Eknath Shinde would be the only leader to take the oath today and the further expansion of the new Cabinet would be decided after further discussions. "I will stay out of the government and ensure it runs smoothly. No other minister will take oath today," said the BJP leader. Meanwhile, Shiv Sena rebel Eknath Shinde thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Mr Fadnavis and other BJP leaders. "It's their magnanimity. They had a bigger mandate, yet they made me the Chief Minister. Who does that?" said Eknath Shinde. "The state needs an alternate government for its stability. With the leadership of Eknath Shinde, BJP and 16 independents have joined hands and have staked claim to the Maharashtra govt by handing over a letter to the Governor," said Mr Fadnavis during the first joint address with Eknath Shinde. The BJP has the support of over 170 MLAs to form the new Maharashtra government. The development comes a day after Uddhav Thackeray resigned as the Chief Minister of Maharashtra which altered the fate of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress) coalition government. Speaking about his rebellion act against the MVA government, Eknath Shinde said: "Several discussions had happened with the party chief (Uddhav Thackeray) over reuniting with our natural allies (BJP).This is the first time ruling leaders had to switch to the Opposition instead of the other way. When 50 MLAs rebel against you, the party needs to introspect,"  Earlier, several reports had suggested that Devendra Fadnavis might reclaim the Chief Ministerial position in the state with Eknath Shinde as Deputy Chief Minister.
