Germany In A Dilemma Over Inviting India For G-7 Summit: Reports

India has repeatedly denied from condemning Russia for its recent actions in Ukraine on international level and recently abstained from a United Nations vote to suspend Russia from the United Nations Human Rights Council. India is also a significant buyer of Russian weapons which it needs to deter neighbouring countries including Pakistan and China. As per all these developments of India over the Russia-Ukraine war, Germany is still debating over inviting Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the Group of Seven Summit that it would be hosting in the month of June. According to the people familiar with the matter, Germany's dilemma is due to India's reluctance to condemn Russia for invading Ukraine. The sources said that Germany will invite Senegal, South Africa and Indonesia as guests but India still remains "under consideration" One of the source also said that India was very much a part of the list before the Russia-Ukraine crisis but a final decision has not been taken yet. Covid-Bulletin: India Registers 1,088 New Cases; Recovery Rate At 98.76%

According to the latest data released by the union health ministry, India has registered 1,088 new covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The active caseload of the country currently stands at 10,870. Meanwhile, daily recoveries continue to outnumber active covid-19 cases with registering 1,081 recoveries in the previous 24 hours. The total recoveries have reached to 4,25,05,410. The daily and weekly positivity rates stand at 0.25% and 0.24% respectively. As per the Indian Council of Medical Research, the country has conducted 186.07 crore covid-19 tests so far. Delhi High Court Grants Bail To Protestors In The Vandalism Outside Delhi CM's Residence Case

On Tuesday, Delhi High Court granted bail to 8 protestors who were arrested by the Delhi Police in connection to the protest and vandalism incident outside Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence. While passing the bail order, the Bench of Justice Asha Menon said: "Since the nature of the evidence is such, there is no possibility of the applicants tampering with the evidence or inducing or threatening any witness," The court's order said that the bail is being granted to all the protestors on a surety bond of INR 35,000 each and the applicants cannot leave NCT of Delhi without intimating the concerned SHO. On March 30, protestors were seen outside the residence of Delhi CM kicking and breaking boom barriers and breaking CCTV cameras with lathis and attempting to climb over the entrance gate. There were rumours that the attack was allegedly carried out Bhartiya Janata Party workers and was done with Delhi Police's tacit complicity. However, there is no confirmation over the same.

Sri Lanka Economic Crisis: Island Nation Announces $51 Billion Debt Default

As Sri Lanka's economy continues to grapple, the Sri Lankan government announced a pre-emptive default on all its foreign debt totalling $51 billion as a last resort. The Finance Ministry of Sri Lanka said that the government is taking all the emergency measures including a discussion with the International Monetary Fund to prevent a further deterioration of the country's economic position. It also added that a comprehensive debt restructuring programme is now inescapable. Meanwhile, the governor of Sri Lanka has also sought help from Sri Lankans living abroad for a "much-needed foreign exchange" as the island nation struggles with severe shortage of basic commodities like fuel, electricity and food.
