Headlines: Ahead Of Floor Test, CBI Raid Residences Of Bihar MLAs

Ahead Of Floor Test, CBI Raid Bihar MLAs

On Wednesday, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) raided the residences of RJD MLAs in connection with the alleged "land for jobs" scam. In its investigation, the CBI raided the properties linked to RJD MLA Sunil Singh and three MPs- Ashfaque Karim, Faiyaz Ahmed, and Subodh Roy. Amused by the CBI raid, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) questioned the timing of the raids. It is because the Bihar assembly, on Wednesday, is going to witness a trust vote of the newly formed Bihar government.  Questioning the agency's action, RJD MP Manoj Jha said the raids were done intentionally with the sole purpose of intimidating the party's legislators. He said, "It is being done intentionally. There is no meaning to it. They are doing it thinking that out of fear, MLAs will come in their favour".   The MP also accused the ruling BJP, citing, "Useless to say that it is a raid by ED or IT or CBI, it is a raid by Bhartiya Janata Party. They work under BJP now; their offices run with BJP script. Today is the floor test, and what is happening here? It has become predictable".  https://twitter.com/ANI/status/1562275087960936453

Ashok Gehlot To Be The New Congress Party President

As the Congress party is preparing itself to announce its final schedule to elect a new party president by September 21, party president Sonia Gandhi met Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Tuesday and urged him to take charge as the new party chief. Ashok Gehlot's chances to lead the party are high because ex-Congress party president Rahul Gandhi clearly indicated that he is not ready to take charge of the party's top leadership.  Meanwhile, Mr Gehlot, according to sources, is uncomfortable with the idea and reiterated his earlier stance that former party chief Rahul Gandhi can better lead the party on the national stage.  https://twitter.com/the_hindu/status/1562255890903732225
