After captain Amarinder Singh resigned from the post of Chief Minister of Punjab on Saturday, three times Punjab MLA Charanjit Singh Channi is all set to take oath as the new Chief Minister of Punjab. Mr Channi is known to be a close associate of Punjab Congress president Navjot Singh Sidhu. Taking to Twitter, Sidhu wrote: "Historic !! Punjab's first Dalit CM-Designate … Will be written with Golden letters in History. A tribute to the spirit of the Constitution and the Congress !! Covid-Bulletin: India Records 30,256 New Covid-19 Cases; Recovery Rate At 97.72% 

According to the latest data released by the Union Health Ministry, India has registered 30,256 new covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The active caseload of the country stands at 3,18,181, constituting 0.95% of the total cases reported in the country. Meanwhile, daily recoveries have outnumbered fresh covid-19 cases by a huge margin, with recording 43,938 fresh recoveries in the previous 24 hours, taking the total recoveries to 3,27,15,105. The daily and weekly positivity rate currently stands at 2.57% and 2.07%, respectively. As per the Indian Council of Medical Research, the country has conducted 55.36 crore covid-19 tests so far.
