Experts Warn Of Third Wave Of Covid-19 In September-October

The committee of experts set up under the Ministry of Home Affairs and constituted by the National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) has predicted that India might see the third wave of the covid-19 anytime between September and October if the country doesn't ramps up the vaccination drive. The report that was submitted to the Prime Minister Office (PMO) read: "Leading experts have repeatedly warned of an imminent third COVID-19 wave in India. Epidemiologists predict a series of surges till we achieve herd immunity through infection or vaccination and the disease becomes endemic,” The report also quoted three likely scenarios for the third wave. It said that in the first scenario, the third wave could peak with India recording 3.2 lakh cases per day during October, the second scenario says that India might record 5 lakh positive cases during September if new and virulent variants continue to emerge. In the third scenario, the peak of third wave can go to India recording as much as 2 lakh positive cases per day in late October.

Covid-Bulletin: India Reports 25,467 Covid-19 Cases; Positivity Rate At 1.55%

According to the latest data released by the Union Health Ministry, India has reported 25,467 fresh covid-19 infections in the last 24 hours. The active cases in the country account for less than 1% of total covid-19 cases, which is currently at 0.08%. Meanwhile, daily recoveries have outnumbered active covid-19 cases by a huge margin with recording 39,486 recoveries between Monday and Tuesday. The total recoveries in the country currently stands at 3,17,20,112. The weekly positivity rate and the daily positivity rate currently stands at 1.90% and 1.55% respectively. As per the Indian Council of Medical Research, India has conducted 50.93 crore covid-19 tests so far. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal Inaugurates Country's First Smog Tower

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal inaugurated the country's first smog tower at Connaught Place on Monday. The 24-metre-high anti-smog tower cleans up 1000 cubic meters of air every second. Speaking about the tower, Kejriwal said: "This is a big step in Delhi government's fight against air pollution. Supported by technology from USA never seen before in India, this anti-smog tower is the first of its kind in the country. The tower will be able to clean 1000 cubic meters of air per second and it is expected that the area will see a rapid change in the quality of air because of the tower, " The tower has over 5,000 filters inside and it is built at a cost of INR 20 crore. FM Nirmala Sitharaman Announces INR 6 Lakh Crore National Asset Monetisation Plan

On Monday, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a 4-year road map for INR 6 lakh crore asset monetization plan. The finance Minister also mentioned that the plan does not cover land and only involves brownfield projects and also promised to provide incentives to states if they undertake disinvestment and asset monetization. While unveiling the map, FM said: "Ownership of assets remain with the government and there will be a mandatory handback, which means they will have to give back after a specified time. Let there be no confusion that this government is selling away. No. These brownfield assets will still be the ownership of the government," The assets include power transmission lines, railway station re-development, private trains, roads, highways, and pipelines.
