Randeep Guleria: There Is No Data To Show That Children Will Be Seriously Infected In Future Waves

On Tuesday, AIIMS director Randeep Guleria said that there is no data, nationally or internationally, to show that the subsequent waves of the covid-19 pandemic will seriously infected children. While addressing a press conference on the covid-19 situation, Guleria said that children who got infected by covid-19 and were admitted during the second wave of the pandemic, 60 to 70% of them had either co-morbidities or low immunity. Speaking about the future waves of the covid-19 pandemic, The AIIMS director said: "Multiple waves occur when there is a susceptible population. When a large part of the population acquires immunity against the infection, the virus becomes endemic, and infection becomes seasonal - like that of H1N1 that commonly spreads during monsoon or winters. Waves can occur due to change in the virus (such as new variants). Since new mutations become more infectious, there is a higher chance for the virus to spread," He also urged people to follow covid appropriate behaviour.  https://youtu.be/oRJKO1rM-To
