Covid Bulletin: India Records 43,509 Covid-19 Cases; Recovery Rate At 97.38% 

According to the latest data released by the Union Health Ministry, India has recorded 43,509 active covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, and the country's active caseload currently stands at 4,03,840. The active cases constitute 1.28% of the total cases reported in the country. Meanwhile, 38,465 more patients have recovered between Wednesday and Thursday, taking the cumulative total to 3,07,01,612. The recovery rate currently stands at 97.38%. The daily positivity rate remains below 5%, currently standing at 2.52% and the weekly positivity rate at 2.38%. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research, India has conducted 46.26 crore covid-19 tests across the country. Two-Third Population of 11 States Have Developed Antibodies Reveals An ICMR Serosurvey

According to the findings of a serosurvey conducted by the Indian Council of Medical Research which was done between 14th June and 6th July 2021, at least two-third of the population in 11 states have developed antibodies against covid-19. The survey has revealed that Madhya Pradesh is leading the race with 79%, while Kerala is at the bottom with 44.4%. The seroprevalence in Maharashtra is at 48% and in Assam 50.3%. A statement released by the ICMR read: "The national serosurvey by ICMR was designed to capture the extent of the spread of Covid infection at the national level. Therefore, the national serosurvey results do not reflect the heterogeneity of seroprevalence between districts and even between states," The Health Ministry, while referring to the findings have advised states and union territories to conduct seroprevalence studies of their own, and the results can then be utilized by the states for a better evidence-based public health response against covid-19. Other states who were a part of the ICMR serosurvey are - Rajasthan (76.2%), Bihar (75.9%), Gujarat (75.3%), Chhattisgarh (74.6%), Uttarakhand (73.1%), Uttar Pradesh (71%), Andhra Pradesh (70.2%), Karnataka (69.8%), Tamil Nadu (69.2%) and Odisha (68.1%). 

India Has Ordered 100 Crore Doses Of Covid-19 Vaccines So Far Says Government

While answering a question raised by Congress MP Kapil Sibal in Rajya Sabha on covid-19 vaccine doses ordered by the government so far, Junior Health Minister Bharati Pravin Pawar said that the central government had ordered about 100 crore doses of covid-19 vaccines till 16th July 2021. The data shared by the Junior Health Minister does not include the doses that India received from Covax and those procured by states and directly by private hospitals. According to the centre's order book, India had ordered 26.6 crore doses of Covishield and 8 crore doses of Covaxin by May end. In response to the question, the minister said that the central government has constituted a dedicated team to deal with various related to the procurement of covid-19 vaccine doses from foreign manufacturers and added that the team is in constant touch with all foreign manufacturers. 

PM Modi To Address Education Community Policymakers To Mark One Year Of NEP

As the National Education Policy 2020 marks one year, Prime Minister is set to address the policymakers in the education sector about the same. The official handle of the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) tweeted: "Prime Minister @narendramodi to address the education community in the country today, on 29th July," PM Narendra Modi is also set to launch multiple initiatives in the education sector, including the launch of the Academic Bank of Credit, first-year Engineering Programmes in Regional Languages and guidelines for the Internationalization of Higher Education. According to the PMO, Prime Minister will also launch Vidya Pravesh, NISHTHA 2.0, SAFAL, and a website dedicated to Artificial Intelligence. The event will also see the launch of the National Education Technology Forum (NETF) and the National Digital Education Architecture (NDEAR). The National Education Policy 2020 replaced the 34-year-old National Policy on Education, 1986. The new policy seeks to make the education sector of the country more holistic and build strong foundations for an Atmanirbhar Bharat. Mizoram Government Demands Central Intervention To Remove Blockade By Assam

The Mizoram government has requested the centre to intervene in the border dispute issue with Assam. On Wednesday, Lalbiaksangi said: "Unknown miscreants from Assam have destroyed/removed railway tracks at Mohammedpur Railway Station and Ramnathpur Railway Station in Hailakandi district in Assam. With this, the only railway line connecting Bairabi Railway Station in Mizoram has been blocked," He also added that the Silchar-Aizawl stretch of NH-306 has also been blocked in the Barak Valley by the people on the Assam side. While requesting the government of India to look into the matter, Lalbiaksangi said that no state government has the right to block any national highways and railway lines as doing so restrict the movement of people and goods. Rahul Gandhi: "The Opposition Is United For A Discussion Over The Pegasus Issue" 

On Wednesday, Congress member Rahul Gandhi said that using the Pegasus spyware to conduct surveillance is not just about privacy but an anti-national act and treason. The opposition has hardened its stand on the Pegasus issue after political leaders of 14 parties met at the office of Mallikarjun Kharge, Rajya Sabha's Leader of the Opposition, to discuss a joint strategy against the Narendra Modi-led government. Many opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, have demanded an adjournment motion in Parliament to discuss over the Pegasus row after suspending regular business. In a joint opposition press conference, Gandhi said: "The Opposition is united for a discussion on the Pegasus issue ... We are not going anywhere till it is discussed in Parliament. We just have one question. Has the Government of India bought Pegasus, yes or no? Did the government use Pegasus weapon on its own people, yes or no?" Raj Kundra Pornography Case: SEBI Puts Monetary Penalty On Viaan Industries For Disclosure Lapses

In the latest development in the Raj Kundra Pornography case, market regulator Security Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has slapped a monetary penalty on Viaan Industries, Shilpa Shetty Kundra and Raj Kundra for disclosure lapses and violation of insider trading norms. According to the SEBI order, a fine of INR 3 lakh has been imposed on them jointly and severally. SEBI conducted a probe between September 2013 and December 2015, which revealed that the entities have violated insider trading norms. The Mumbai Police arrested Raj Kundra on 9th July for alleged production and distribution of pornographic content through mobile applications. Yesterday, the court rejected the bail plea filed by Kundra's lawyer.
