Indian Envoy To UN: Recognise Violence Against Buddhists, Sikhs Too

Delivering a keynote address at a virtual conference organised by the Global Counter-Terrorism Centre, India's UN envoy T.S. Tirumurti said that United Nations' global-counter-terrorism strategy is selective and filled with flaws. He added that including terms like violent nationalism and right-wing extremism should not be included in the realm of terrorism as they would dilute them. Mr Tirumurti said: "In the past two years, several member states, driven by their political, religious and other motivations, have been trying to label terrorism into categories such as racially and ethnically motivated violent extremism, violent nationalism, right-wing extremism, etc. This tendency is dangerous for several reasons" "The emergence of contemporary forms of religiophobia, especially anti-Hindu, anti-Buddhist and anti-Sikh phobias is a matter of serious concern and needs the attention of the UN and all member states to address this threat," added Indian envoy to UN. https://youtu.be/4q6zgyPP7aI
