UNSC: India Tells Pakistan To Vacate Illegally Occupied Areas Of Kashmir

Speaking at the United Nations Security Council, Dr Kajal Bhat, Counsellor at India’s Permanent Mission to the UN, slammed neighbouring country Pakistan for misusing UN platforms to propagate falls and malicious propaganda against New Delhi. While representing India. Dr Bhat also took up the issue of Jammu & Kashmir and called upon Pakistan to immediately vacate all areas of J&K that has been illegally occupied by it. Dr Kajal Bhat said: “I would like to be categorical about India’s position, the entire Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, were and will always be an integral and inalienable part of India. This includes the areas that are under the illegal occupation of Pakistan. We call upon Pakistan to immediately vacate all areas under its illegal occupation,” Dr Bhat also went on to say that Pakistan has an established history of supporting and actively aiding terrorists. She said: “This is the country that has been globally recognized as one openly supporting, training, financing and arming terrorists as a matter of state policy,” She also underlined that Pakistan holds the ignoble record of hosting the most significant number of terrorists proscribed by the UNSC. However, Dr Bhat also pointed out that India is ready to resolve outstanding issues with neighbouring countries, including Pakistan (as per Shimla Agreement and the Lahore Declaration).

Covid-Bulletin: India Registers 10,197 New Covid-19 Cases; Recovery Rate At 98.28%

According to the latest data released by the Union Health Ministry, India has registered 10,197 new covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The active caseload of the country stands at 1,28,555, which is the lowest in 527 days. Meanwhile, daily recoveries continue to outnumber new covid-19 cases, with recording 12,134 recoveries in the previous 24 hours. The total recoveries in the country have reached 3,38,73,890. The daily and weekly positivity rate is currently at 0.82% and 0.96%, respectively. As per the Indian Council of Medical Research, the country has conducted 62.70 crore covid-19 tests. On the vaccination front, India has administered 113.68 crore covid-19 vaccine doses so far under the nationwide vaccination drive. 

Delhi Pollution Crisis: Centre Not In Favour Of Work From Home; Tells Top Court

After the Supreme Court heard the Delhi pollution matter on Monday, it asked the central government to consider work from home policy. However, the Union government has said that it is not in favour of the work from home policy for its employees. While submitting an affidavit ahead of the top court’s hearing on Delhi pollution matter, the central government noted: “In the recent past, several governmental functions were impacted due to COVID-19 pandemic for substantially a long period of time which entailed pan India ramifications,” However, the centre mentioned that it has advised its employees on carpooling. The Supreme Court will hear the Delhi pollution matter today.

Delhi’s New Liquor Shops To Have Tasting Facilities And Walk-Ins 

On Tuesday, the Delhi government bid farewell to the old liquor business as the new regime is all set to hit the national capital today. As per the new policy, the liquor regime will now be operated by only private players, and today was the last working day for the around 600 government-run liquor shops. The new liquor shops will have walk-in and tasting facilities to enhance the user experience. The liquor vends will be set up in 32 zones across the national capital, and every retail licensee can have 27 liquor shops per zone. Delhi Liquor Trade Association President Naresh Goyal said: “Not more than 250-300 shops will be able to function on the first day. There may be some shortage in the initial few days due to lesser number of shops, however, it will end as new vends come up,”

Rafale Deal: Congress Spokesperson Pawan Khera Demands JPC Probe

On Tuesday, Congress spokesperson Pawan Khera said that the party has demanded a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) investigation over the Rafale deal. Mr Khera said: “Facts have come to light after the Supreme Court quashed some private petitions. These facts pertain to the fact that CBI was in possession of some documents pointing to the role of some middlemen in the Rafale deal,” “The ED has recovered more documents, has recovered some incriminating documents from this middlemen on 26th March 2019. All this happened after the quashing of Supreme Court petitions,” he added.
