According to the data released by the Union Health Ministry, 53,256 more people have tested positive for covid-19 in the last 24 hours. The country has reported less than 66,000 new covid-19 infections after nearly 3 months. The cumulative caseload in the country stands at 2,99,35,221, while the recoveries have reached 2,88,44,199, with a recovery rate over 96%. India’s covid-19 situation continues to get better as the recoveries are outnumbering the active covid-19 infections. As per the Union Health Ministry, a total of 28,00,36,898 covid-19 vaccine doses have been administered in the country so far.

WHO Scientist: Too Early To Say If Covid Booster Shots Will Be Required To Fight Covid-19 Variants
On Friday, the World Health Organization’s chief scientist, Soumya Swaminathan, in a Zoom interview said: “We do not have the information that’s necessary to make the recommendation on whether or not a booster will be needed,” Many countries, including the United Kingdom, are planning to roll out covid booster shots in order to avoid another breakout and to fight against the more infectious variants of covid-19 but the health authorities are saying that there is not enough evidence to support that the world requires covid booster shots.
PM Modi May Discuss Roadmap To Restore J&K Statehood As Per Reports
As per reports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to have a meet with the mainstream political parties of Jammu and Kashmir to discuss the restoration of the statehood of J&K, which is currently a Union Territory. However, sources close to the development clarified that there would be no talks on restoring the special constitutional status of Jammu & Kashmir, and there will no change in Ladakh’s status right now. The news comes as a significant step for Jammu & Kashmir as this is the first development after the central government abrogated Article 370 in August 2019. However, the restoration plan of statehood might or might not be on the cards as sources have quoted NDTV that the high-level meeting will focus more on delimitation exercise and not the demands for statehood.
Haryana, Uttarakhand and Tamil Nadu Extends Lockdown; Check What’s Allowed
The Haryana, Uttarakhand and Tamil Nadu government on Sunday extended the lockdown with some relaxations. The lockdown in Haryana has been extended till 28th June, but corporate offices can open with full attendance, and all shops, restaurants and bars can operate from 9 am to 8 pm. In Uttarakhand, the lockdown has been extended till 22nd June and hotels, bars, and restaurants can operate with 50% capacity. Chardham Yatra has been opened for locals from 1st July and 11th July for people coming from different states. However, a negative RT PCR or Rapid Antigen test report is mandatory for all the pilgrims visiting Kedarnath, Badrinath, Gangotri and Yamunotri temples. The Tamil Nadu government has allowed the bus services to resume after a gap of 42 days, and Metro Rail services will operate with 50% capacity. However, Tamil Nadu has extended the lockdown norms till 6 am on 28th June, including the closure of places of worship, school, colleges and universities.

When I spoke to frontline warriors and doctors, they tell me that they’ve made yoga a protective shield against the virus. They have used yoga not just for safeguarding themselves, but also for patients,” He also added that the ‘Yoga For Wellness’ theme of 2021 has encouraged people to practice yoga even more. International Yoga Day is celebrated on 21st June every year across the country.
Andhra Pradesh Vaccinates Over 1.3 Million People In A Day And Crosses The One-Crore Mark In Inoculating Its Citizens With the First Dose
The Andhra Pradesh government has set a record by administering as many as 1.3 million covid-19 doses in a single day and has crossed the one-crore mark in vaccinating people with the first dose of covid-19 vaccine. The state government, in a statement, said: “At 8 pm, over 1.3 million vaccinations have been completed across the state, which is almost 50 per cent of the national vaccination drive. It is a remarkable achievement to show that our medical team and other staff can take up over 1 million vaccinations a day if the government of India maintains the supply,” The Chief Minister of the state, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, had ordered the state health department for the special vaccination drive. Officials have given credit to healthcare volunteers and workers who are tirelessly working to inoculate as many people as they can. Andhra Pradesh has reported 5,646 fresh covid-19 infections in the last 24 hours.
