PM Modi To Meet US President Joe Biden; 1st Bilateral Meeting
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to have the 1st bilateral meeting with US President Joe Biden on 24th September to take the relationship between the two countries to the next level and give momentum to the Quad grouping. Informing about the same, a White House official said: “The leaders will be focused on strengthening the deep ties between their people and shared democratic values that have underpinned the special bond between the United States and India for more than seven decades,” “Additionally, in the bilateral meeting with PM Modi, the two leaders will have the opportunity to talk about counter-terrorism, the Afghanistan situation and how we can work together to fight terrorism, our common enemy,” added the official. US President Joe Biden will host Prime Minister Modi at the White House on 24th September 2021; later that day, President Joe Biden will also host the first-ever-in-person Quad Leaders’ Summit along with PM Modi, Japanese PM Yoshihide Suga and Australian PM Scott Morrison.
Covid Bulletin: India Registers 26,115 New Covid-19 Cases; Recovery Rate At 97.75%
According to the latest data released by the Union Health Ministry, India registered 26,115 new covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The active caseload of the country currently stands at 3,09,575, constituting 0.92% of total cases reported in the country so far. Meanwhile, daily recoveries have outnumbered fresh covid-19 cases by a huge margin, with recording 34,469 recoveries in the previous 24 hours, taking the total recoveries in the country to 3,27,49,574. The daily and weekly positivity rate currently stands at 1.85% and 2.08, respectively. As per the Indian Council of Medical Research, the country has conducted 55.50 crore covid-19 tests so far. On the vaccination front, India has administered 81.85 crore covid-19 vaccine doses so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.

India Calls New UK Travel Curbs Racist, Biased
The United Kingdom has announced new international travel rules which do not recognize people vaccinated in India as fully vaccinated, which means that vaccinated visitors travelling from India to the UK will have to home quarantine for 10 days while those coming from other countries will not. The Indian side has called the travel curbs offensive, racist and biased. Taking to Twitter, Rajya Sabha member Jairam Ramesh tweeted: “Absolutely bizarre considering Covishield was originally developed in the UK and the Serum Institute, Pune has supplied to that country too! This smacks of racism, “The new international travel curbs in the UK considers those as fully vaccinated who have been vaccinated under an approved vaccination programme in Europe, UK or the US. However, a British high commission spokesperson told reporters: “We are engaging with the government of India to explore how we could expand UK recognition of vaccine certification to people vaccinated by a relevant public health body in India,”

New Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi Promises Free Water, And Thinner Power Bills
Congress MLA Charanjit Singh Channi was sworn in as Punjab’s new Chief Minister. Mr Channi is the first Dalit leader to head Punjab and is the 16th CM of the state. The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Congress member Rahul Gandhi and Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu, among others. After taking charge as the Punjab CM, Mr Channi gave a loud and clear commitment to support the farmers and asked the centre to withdraw the three controversial agriculture laws. Getting down to business, CM Channi has given a warning to the mafia and others engaged in illegal activities. He also promised that the pending water bill dues would be waived for the poor, and there would be a reduction in power tariff as well.
Yes Bank Founder’s Wife, Daughters Move Bombay Court Seeking Bail
On Monday, Yes Bank founder Rana Kapoor’s wife Bindu Kapoor and daughters Radha and Roshni Kapoor moved the Bombay High Court for seeking bail and challenged the Central Bureau of Investigation special court’s order that refused Rana Kapoor bail in connection to a cheating case involving DHFL. The application submitted to the court read: “The applicant extended her fullest cooperation to the CBI and was not arrested during the investigation. On August 20, the Ld. Trial Court took cognizance of various non-bailable offences and summoned inter alia the applicant to appear before it as an accused. The applicant deserves to be enlarged on interim bail till the disposal of the present petition, as the order dated September 18 is in violation of Article 141 of the Constitution of India,”
