Total Omicron Tally Jumps To 781; Schools, Colleges Closed In Delhi

After Delhi recorded a significant jump in Omicron cases, the Arvind Kejriwal led- government announced fresh curbs in the national capital. The state government also issued a yellow alert in Delhi. The Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) issued a notice stating the closing of schools, colleges, and other educational institutions in the national capital until further orders. In view of rising cases in Delhi, the government also announced restrictions on offices, malls and shops and restaurants. Covid-Bulletin: India Records 9,195 New Covid-19 Cases; Recovery Rate At 98.40%

According to the data released by the union health ministry, India has recorded 9,195 new covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The active caseload of the country stands at 77,002. Meanwhile, the nation has registered a cumulative total of 3,42,51,292 recoveries with recording 7,347 recoveries in the previous 24 hours. The daily and weekly positivity rates currently stand at 0.79% and 0.68%, respectively. As per the Indian Council of Medical Research, the country has conducted 67.52 crore covid-19 tests so far. On the vaccination front, India has administered 143.15 crore covid-19 vaccine doses so far under the nationwide vaccination drive. The union health ministry also released the statewise status of Omicron cases. People Aged 60 And Above With Comorbidities Don't Need Doctor's Certificate For Booster Shots 

On Tuesday, the central government clarified that a doctor's certificate is not needed for booster shots or a third dose of covid-19 vaccine that they have been previously vaccinated with. The government said that those aged 60 and above with comorbidities will be eligible for a precautionary dose from 10th January 2022. On Monday, the health ministry released the covid-19 vaccine guidelines and mentioned that "those over 60 with comorbidities could avail of a precaution shot following doctor’s advice”, which sparked confusion that a doctor's certificate would be needed. However, the union government cleared all rumours regarding the need for a doctor's certificate. India will be using Bharat Biotech's Covaxin for inoculating children aged between 15-18. 

Ludhiana Court Blast: German Authorities Detains A Person With Links To Ludhiana Blast Case

On Tuesday, the German authorities detained a person who has links with the Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) group, the alleged organisation behind the Ludhiana Court Blast that killed one person and injured five. Based on intelligence inputs from India, the German officials detained a person identified as Jaswinder Singh Multani in a city in Germany. Multani is not a new name as there are already two FIRs already registered in Punjab against him. According to officials, the police recovered evidences after the Ludhiana Court blast case. The recovered chats on social media also suggest that the alleged group was planning more blasts in Punjab and the rest of the country, and also the bomber was in constant touch with pro-Khalistani leaders in Pakistan and Gulf countries.  https://youtu.be/3vUSQiQb44Q
