Twitter Loses Legal Protection In India For Not Complying With New IT Rules

Social media giant Twitter has lost legal indemnity in India for its failure to comply with the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021. A case has been filed in Uttar Pradesh against Twitter over tweets on an assault that attempts to incite communal trouble, as per police. Sources in the Ministry of Electronics and IT said: "Due to their non-compliance, their protection as an intermediary is gone. Twitter is liable for penal actions against any Indian law just as any publisher is," Twitter had earlier expressed concern about the potential threat to freedom of expression due to the new IT Rules. Covid Bulletin: India Continues To Record A Decline In Active Covid-19 Cases

According to the data released by the Union Health Ministry, India recorded 62,224 new covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the cumulative caseload in the country to 2,96,33,105. The country has recorded 2542 fatalities in the last 24 hours, and the death tally stands at 3,79,573. Pre-registration On CoWIN App Not Mandatory For Availing Vaccination Services Says Centre

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has clarified that pre-registration on the CoWIN app is not mandatory to avail vaccination services for people over the age of 18. The Ministry said that people could directly go to their nearest covid vaccination centre where on-site registration is available and take the covid-19 vaccine dose. Adding further, the Ministry said that anyone who requires assistance in the registration process can call the 1075 helpline.

Karnataka Converts Buses Into Mobile Covid vaccine Centre To Reach Remote Villages

Buses of the North Eastern Karnataka Road Transport Corporation (NEKRTC) have now been converted into mobile covid-19 vaccine centres to reach remote villages. The buses will be available 24*7 and will start operating from today. Rajkumar Patil Telkur on Tuesday said: "The district administration and Municipal Corporation converted this bus into vaccine centre for the convenience of people. The bus is especially for remote villages where there is no hospitals or vaccine centre. The service will be available 24/7. Busses will start working from tomorrow," Adding further, he said: "We have converted two buses now, and we are ready to convert more if the administration asks for. We want COVID-free India and for which vaccination is important. In our Corporation, around 88 per cent of workers have taken the vaccine, and we have urged other workers and their family members to get themselves vaccinated," Karnataka currently has 1,62,282 active covid-19 cases with a positivity rate of 3.80%

Israel's Air Force Strikes Gaza After A Ceasefire Last Month

The Israeli Air Force has yet again striked at least one site east of Khan Yunis, located in the south of the Gaza Strip, as per sources. The Khan Yunis area is home to some two million people. Israel carried out the strike early Wednesday in response to incendiary balloons sent to the south of Israel by militants operating in the Palestinian territory. The Israeli Defence Force said that they have targeted facilities and meeting sites of the Hamas terror organisation. The strike happened after a ceasefire came into place in May, which ended the 11 days of heavy fighting between Israel and Palestine. The 11 days fight reportedly killed 260 Palestinians and 13 Israelis.
