India Assumes G20 Presidency; Focus on Forging Unity To Tackle Global Challenges
On Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially took the G20 presidency. As India will be hosting the next summit, the country will be preparing for its year-long G20 presidency that will be ‘inclusive, ambitious, decisive, and action-oriented‘. PM Modi’s said that India would encourage an honest conversation on lowering risks posed by weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) and enhancing global security. With the theme of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, India will focus on forging unity to tackle global challenges, including economic slowdown, terrorism, climate crisis, and indebtedness of countries amid the Russia-Ukraine conflict. India’s G20 initiatives also include a dedicated focus on startups and bridging the digital divide. The government will host as many as 200 meetings, with the first being held in Udaipur later this week. The G20 summit will be organised in New Delhi on September 2023. Starting today, 100 monuments across India will be lit up, highlighting the G20 logo for a week. Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the logo last month, which features a lotus flower and a globe highlighting the theme ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future‘. The Group of 20 countries, or G20, is an intergovernmental forum of the world’s major developed and developing countries.

‘Modi se Pehle ED Aata Hai’ TRS Leader K Kavitha Takes a Dig At Bhartiya Janata Party
In a recent development, the Enforcement Directorate has named K Kavitha, daughter of Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, in the Delhi Liquor Policy scam. The central probe agency has claimed that K Kavitha was a key member of the South Group, which paid at least 100 crores to leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) via another arrested man Vijay Nair. The ED added that all the information was given by an arrested Gurugram businessman Amit Arora. Telangana legislator K Kavitha took a dig at the Bhartiya Janata Party today and said: “Bachcha bachcha jaanta hai, Modi se pehle ED aatha hai (every child knows, ED arrives before Modi),” while challenging the PM to put her in jail if he wants to. The Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) leader also added that in any state where elections are to happen, the ED arrives before the PM. “You cannot win elections using your central agencies,” said KCR’s daughter, adding that it is ‘low-level politics‘. Without going into the specifics of the allegations pinned against her, the TRS MLC said that she welcomes the central agencies and will cooperate with them.
