Covid-Bulletin: India Reports More Than 1,90,000 New Covid-19 Cases

According to the latest data released by the union health ministry, India has registered 1,94,720 new covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The active caseload of the country currently stands at 9,55,319. Meanwhile, India has recorded 60,405 fresh recoveries in the previous 24 hours, and the cumulative recoveries stand at 3,46,30,536. The daily and weekly positivity rates currently stand at 11.05% and 9.82%, respectively. As per the Indian Council of Medical Research, India has conducted 69.52 crore covid-19 tests so far. On the vaccination front, the country has administered 153.80 crore covid-19 vaccine doses so far under the nationwide vaccination drive. The union health ministry also released the statewise status of Omicron cases, and the total tally stands at 4,868. Maharashtra (1,281) and Rajasthan (645) have recorded the most number of Omicron cases, followed by Delhi (546), Karnataka (479) and Kerala (350).  https://twitter.com/MoHFW_INDIA/status/1481122663615844356

Haridwar Speech Case: Supreme Court To Hear The Matter Today

The Supreme Court will hear the Haridwar speech matter today. A three-judge bench of chief justice N V Ramana and justices Hima Kohli and Surya Kant will listen to the case today. The plea has been filed by journalist Qurban Ali and Patna high court judge Anjana Prakash against the alleged speeches targeting the Muslim community at two events in Haridwar and Delhi. Both petitioners want an impartial investigation into the matter by a special investigation team (SIT). The conclave was organised by Yati Narasimhanand and took place on December 17 and 19, 2021. Uttar Pradesh: Magh Mela Set To Begin From January 14

The preparations of Magh Mela have started in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj and is scheduled to be held on 14th January 2022. The Magh Mela is held in the month of Magha near river banks and Hindu temples every year. Speaking about the preparations, Superintendent of police Rajeev N Mishra said: "While carrying out the preparations, as many as seven police personnel tested positive for covid-19. These police officials have isolated themselves and are adhering to the covid-19 protocols" "All the preparations by the police are in place. PM's Security Breach: Supreme Court To Pronounce Order Today 

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court will be announcing on the constitution of a committee for probe into the security breach during prime minister Narendra Modi's visit to Punjab. The committee might be headed by a top court judge and will also include DGP Chandigarh, IG National Investigation Agency, Registrar General of the Punjab and ADGP (security) of Punjab. Today, a bench headed by CJI NV Ramana will pass the order. Earlier, the apex court had mentioned that it would constitute a committee to investigate the matter.
