Joe Biden: ‘Putin Thought He Could Roll Into Ukraine But Met With a Wall Of Strength’

While addressing the world amid the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, Us President Joe Biden said that he and all the members of the US Congress are joined “with an unwavering resolve that freedom will always triumph over tyranny.” He also asked all the lawmakers to stand and salute the Ukrainians. In his 62-minutes speech, Mr Biden highlighted the bravery of the Ukrainian people. He said: “Six days ago, Russia’s Vladimir Putin sought to shake the foundations of the free world thinking he could make it bend to his menacing ways. But he badly miscalculated. He thought he could roll into Ukraine, and the world would roll over. Instead, he met a wall of strength he never imagined. He met the Ukrainian people. From President Zelenskyy to every Ukrainian, their fearlessness, their courage, their determination inspires the world. Groups of citizens blocking tanks with their bodies. Everyone from students to retirees teachers turned soldiers defending their homeland,” Speaking about Vladimir Putin’s aggression over Ukraine, Mr Biden said: “Throughout our history, we’ve learned this lesson – when dictators do not pay a price for their aggression, they cause more chaos. They keep moving. And, the costs and threats to America and the world keep rising.” While he warned of costs to the American economy, he also said that Putin’s aggression wouldn’t be contained to Ukraine. However, as Joe Biden was giving the address, Russian forces continued to attack Ukraine and also bombarded the central square of Kyiv’s main tower, killing at least 5 people.

Covid-Bulletin: India Registers 7,554 New Covid-19 Cases; Recovery Rate At 98.60%

According to the latest data released by the union health ministry, India has recorded 7,554 new covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The active caseload of the country currently stands at 85,680. Meanwhile, daily recoveries continue to outnumber active covid-19 cases, with recording 14,123 recoveries in the previous 24 hours. The total recoveries in the nation have reached 4,23,38,673. The daily and weekly positivity rates stand at 0.96% and 1.06%, respectively. As per the Indian Council of Medical Research, the country has conducted 76.91 crore covid-19 tests so far. On the vaccination front, India has administered 177.79 crore covid-19 vaccine doses so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.

‘No Indian Citizen Left In Kyiv’ Says The Central Government Amid Russia-Ukraine War

Today, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar said that India has evacuated 1377 Indian citizens from Ukraine in the last 24 hours. He tweeted: “Six flights have now departed for India in the last 24 hours, including the first flights from Poland. Carried back 1377 more Indian nationals from Ukraine,” In the next 3 days, India will operate over 26 flights to bring back remaining Indians in the war-torn country of Ukraine. While the Ukrainian government closed its airspace, airports in neighbouring countries including Romania, Poland, Hungary and the Slovak Republic are being used to fly out Indians. Yesterday, foreign secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla confirmed to reporters that no Indian citizen is left in Kyiv. There are around 16,000 Indian students who are still stranded in Ukraine, and about 9,000 have already left the country by various special flights.

Highly Concerned About Civilian Casualties In Ukraine Says China

On a Tuesday night phone call to Ukrainian foreign minister Dymtro Kuleba, China’s foreign minister Wang Yi said that Beijing was highly concerned about the damage done to civilians amid Russian attacks on Ukraine. While China neither criticised the actions of its close ally nor explicitly called it an invasion, the ‘highly concerned’ remark was the strongest word from Beijing so far about Moscow’s action. Both India and China abstained on UNSC resolutions to condemn Russia’s invasion of Ukraine; both countries have expressed similar concerns regarding the escalating violence and the safety of their nationals in the war-torn region of Ukraine. While Chinese President Xi Jinping has already spoken to Russian President Vladimir Putin, he has not spoken to Ukraine president Volodymyr Zelenskyy yet. In a statement, the Chinese foreign ministry said: “Wang Yi said the situation in Ukraine has changed rapidly and dramatically. China is deeply grieved to see the conflict between Ukraine and Russia and is highly concerned about the damage done to civilians. On the current crisis, China calls on Ukraine and Russia to find a solution through negotiations and supports all constructive international efforts that are conducive to a political settlement,” 

Aryan Khan Drug Case: SIT Team Says No Evidence Found To Prove SRK’s Son Was a Part of The Drug Conspiracy

In the latest development regarding Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan drug case, the SIT team said that it has found no evidence to prove that the star kid was a part of the drug conspiracy case as per a report by Hindustan Times. For the unversed, Aryan Khan was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau on 3rd October 2021 after an NCB raid was conducted on a cruise going from Mumbai to Goa. Along with Aryan Khan, Arbaaz Merchant, Munmun Dhamecha and 17 others were also arrested. After spending over 20 days in jail, Aryan Khan was granted bail but was asked to mark his attendance every Friday at the NCB office. During the investigation, officials confirmed that they did not found that any possession of drugs with Aryan Khan, and therefore, there was no need of confiscating his phone. The investigation also raised the question of why the raid was not video taped as mandated by the NCB Manual. Meanwhile, the SIT investigation is not complete as yet, and it will take a few more months for the team to prepare the final report.
