Maharashtra Political Crisis Deepens: Shiv Sena Rebel Eknath Shinde In Guwahati With 40 MLAs

Maharashtra Political Crisis Deepens: Shiv Sena Rebel Eknath Shinde In Guwahati With 40 MLAs

As the Maharashtra political crisis continues to deepen, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has called for a Cabinet meeting at 1 pm today to decide a future course of action. Meanwhile, rebel Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde and other party MLAs have shifted from Surat, Gujarat, to Guwahati, Assam. The Shiv Sena minister has told reporters that 40 MLAs are with him. He also added that he would ‘carry forward Balasaheb Thackeray’s Hindutva’. The Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in Maharashtra is in a political crisis after Eknath Shinde has called for a rebellion against the Shiv Sena-NCP-Congress alliance. On Tuesday evening, the personal assistant of the Maharashtra CM, Milind Narvekar and MLC Ravindra Fatak landed at Surat’s Le Meridien hotel in an attempt to pacify and convince Eknath Shinde to return. BJP MLA Sanjay Kute also held a meeting with Shinde in Surat. However, it seems like all efforts have gone in vain. Speaking about the Maharashtra political crisis, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said: “We’ve worked together for decades. It’s neither easy for him nor for us to leave each other. I had a conversation with him for an hour this morning, and the party chief was intimated about it,” “Talks are underway with MLAs who are with Eknath Shinde; everybody will stay in Shiv Sena. Our party is a fighter; we’ll struggle consistently. At most, we might lose power, but we’ll continue to fight,” added the leader. In a shocking development in the Maharashtra political crisis, Maharashtra Environment Minister Aaditya Thackeray has removed his ministerial designation from his Twitter bio. While many MVA leaders have claimed that the Bhartiya Janata Party is trying to ‘negatively provoke’ Eknath Shinde and other party MLAs, some suggest that Eknath Shinde was not happy with the undue involvement of the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) and Aaditya Thackeray in his departments (Urban Development, PWD). As the ongoing Maharashtra political crisis continues to deepen, the next few hours remain critical.
