PM Modi At WEF: "India Fighting Third Wave, While Maintaining Economic Growth"

On Monday, prime minister Narendra Modi addressed the World Economic Forum and spoke about how India has given a 'bouquet of hope' to the entire globe. Due to the covid-19 pandemic, the World Economic Forum's Davos Agenda Summit was held virtually on the dates initially set for an annual physical meet. These are some of the highlights from PM Modi's address at the World Economic Forum:

• We also focused on reforms in the right direction. Global economic experts have praised India's decisions, and I'm certain that we will fulfil the world's aspirations from India.

Covid-Bulletin: India Registers 2,38,018 New Covid-19 Cases; Total Omicron Cases At 8,891

According to the latest data released by the union health ministry, India has recorded 2,38,018 new covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The active caseload of the country currently stands at 17,36,628. Meanwhile, India has registered 1,57,421 recoveries in the previous 24 hours, taking the total recoveries to 3,53,94,882. The daily and weekly positivity rates currently stand at 14.43% and 14.92%, respectively. As per the Indian Council of Medical Research, the country has conducted 70.54 crore covid-19 tests so far. On the vaccination front, India has administered 158.04 crore covid-19 vaccine doses so far under the nationwide vaccination drive. Raid At Punjab CM's Nephew Bhupinder Singh Honey's Home In Connection To Mining Case

Ahead of the Punjab Assembly Elections, Punjab chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi's nephew Bhupinder Singh Honey's home was raided by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with an illegal sand mining case. Officials mentioned that a money laundering case has been filed, and several people with political links are being questioned. Supreme Court To Hear Plea Seeking The Deregistration Of Political Parties Not Divulging Criminal Cases Of Candidates 

On Tuesday, the Supreme Court agreed to hear a plea directing the Election Commission of India to deregister political parties that do not disclose details of criminal cases registered against their candidates. The plea was mentioned in front of the chief justice of India, NV Ramana. The plea also gives directions to ECI for taking steps to ensure that every political party should publish the details regarding the criminal cases against candidates and the reason for their selection on the official page of its website. In 2018 and 2020, the Supreme Court had passed judgements directing political parties to publish the entire criminal history of their candidates for assembly and Lok Sabha elections. 

Breaking: Dhanush And Aishwaryaa Announce Separation After 18 Years Of Marriage 

On Monday, actor Dhanush announced separation from his wife Aishwaryaa after 18 years of marriage. Taking to Twitter, the actor shared a note and wrote: "18 years of togetherness as friends, couple, as parents and well-wishers to each other.
