Russia Declares Full-Scale Invasion On Ukraine; West Fails To Deter Putin

On Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a military operation and full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Soon, explosions were heard across the country. Weeks of diplomacy and imposition of various sanctions could not stop Putin from announcing a large-scale invasion of Ukraine who, had already deployed between 150,000 to 200,000 troops along the borders of Ukraine. In a surprise Television announcement, Putin said: "I have made the decision of a military operation," As per AFP correspondents, explosions were heard in Ukraine's Kyiv and multiple other cities. Vladimir Putin also called on Ukrainian soldiers to lay down their arms and said that the operation was done to oversee a genocide in the east of the country. Russia has for long demanded that Ukraine should drop its plan of joining NATO and become neutral if the west wants to de-escalate the Russia-Ukraine crisis. Meanwhile, on Wednesday, the US announced several sanctions on Russia, including the suspension of the Nord Stream 2 Gas Pipeline connecting Russia and Germany. Along with the US, Australia, Britain, Japan, and the European Union also announced sanctions. Covid-Bulletin: India Records 14,148 New Covid-19 Cases; Recovery Rate At 98.46%

According to the latest data released by the union health ministry, India has registered 14,148 new covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The active caseload of the country currently stands at 1,48,359. Meanwhile, daily recoveries continue to outnumber active covid-19 cases, with recording 30,009 recoveries in the previous 24 hours. The total recoveries now stand at 4,22,19,896. The daily and weekly positivity rates stand at 1.22% and 1.60%, respectively. As per the Indian Council of Medical Research, the country has so far conducted 76.35 crore covid-19 tests so far. Russia-Ukraine War: Air India Evacuation Flight Returns To Delhi As Kyiv Shuts Airspace

After Russia declared an invasion of Ukraine, Kyiv closed off its airspace, citing potential threats. An Air India flight, AI 1947, had left for Ukraine to evacuate Indians. However, now the flight is returning back to New Delhi after getting suspended mid-air due to the announcement of NOTAM (Notice to Air Missions) from the country. The Air India Dreamliner had taken off for the Kyiv Boryspil International Airport. This week, the Airlines had three special flights to bring back Indians out of Ukraine. The notice from Ukraine will expire at 2359 GMT unless extended. Meanwhile, an EI Al flight from Tel Aviv to Toronto also made a sudden U-turn out of Ukraine's airspace. Karnataka Hijab Ban: High Court Says Ban of Religious Dresses Applies To Students, Not Teachers

On Wednesday, Karnataka High Court said that the interim order passed by the court that bans religious dresses applies to both degree colleges and pre-university (PU) colleges. It also added that the ban only applies to students and not teachers. Chief Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi said: "We are making it very clear that whether a degree college or a PU College, if a uniform has been prescribed, that has to be followed so long as the matter is pending before the court," The court made its interim order clear after a lawyer appearing on behalf of petitioners pointed out that teachers were also asked to remove their headscarf.

Gangubai Kathiawadi Controversy: Supreme Court Suggests Changing The Name of The Film 

On Wednesday, the Supreme Court suggested changing the name of Alia Bhatt-starrer Gangubai Kathiawadi amid several cases pending before courts. While hearing a petition, a bench of Justices Indira Banerjee and J.K. Maheshwari asked: "Is changing the title possible?" While the petitioner's counsel insisted on an interim stay on the film's release, the respondent's counsel argued that a name change days before release would not be possible. An appeal was filed by Gangubai's adopted son challenging the Bombay High Court order, which said that the novel and the film tarnishes the image of the petitioner, his deceased mother and other family members.  https://youtu.be/umT1aZWpZtA
