Russia-Ukraine War: Biden Calls Putin ‘Butcher’; Kremlin Reacts Sharply

Recently, US President Joe Biden landed in Warsaw, Poland, to meet the refugees fleeing Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. According to some media reports, when Biden was asked about his thoughts on Russian President Vladimir Putin, he responded by saying: “He’s a butcher.” Reacting sharply to Biden’s comment, The Kremlin said that the remarks narrow down the chances for mending ties between the two countries. Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden also held a surprise meeting with top Ukrainian officials where he discussed how could they further help the war-torn country of Ukraine.

Covid-Bulletin: India Registers 1,270 New Cases; Recovery Rate At 98.75%

According to the latest data released by the union health ministry, India has recorded 1,270 covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours. The active caseload of the country currently stands at 15,859. Meanwhile, daily recoveries continue to outnumber active covid-19 cases, registering 1,567 recoveries in the previous 24 hours. The total recoveries have reached 4,24,83,829. The daily and weekly positivity rates stand at 0.29% and 0.26%, respectively. As per the Indian Council of Medical Research, the country has conducted 78.73 crore covid-19 tests so far. On the vaccination front, India has administered 183.26 crore covid-19 vaccine doses so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.

Bharat Bandh: Banking Services May Get Partially Hit By The Nationwide Strike

On Monday, the 48-hour nationwide strike or Bharat Bandh began. The strike has been called by various trade unions, including banking staff, to protest against government policies. As reported by News Agency PTI, banking services have been partially impacted as a section of employees did not report for duty. Transactions at many Public Sector Banks might get affected. However, there was little to no impact on the functioning of most of the private sector banks. Bank unions are protesting against the central government’s move to privatise two public sector banks, as was announced in the last year’s budget.

PM Modi Reach Panaji To Attend The Oath Taking Ceremony Of Cm-Designate Pramod Sawant

On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other top leaders of the Bhartiya Janata Party arrived at Panaji, Goa, to attend the oath-taking ceremony of Chief Minister-Designate Pramod Sawant. BJP President JP Nadda, Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar, Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai and Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee also reached to attend the oath-taking ceremony today. Along with Mr Sawant, Vishwajeet Rane, Mauvin Godinho, Ravi Nayak, Govind Gaude, among others, would also take oath as ministers. CM-designate Pramod Sawant will take the oath as Goa Chief Minister for the 2nd consecutive term.
