Sanjay Raut Paid Rs 3 Crore To Sellers To Buy 10 Plots In Alibaug: ED

Presenting Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut before a special PMLA court in Mumbai, the ED submitted that it recovered several documents related to Patra Chawl Scam. The recovered documents involve Raut's cash payment records in which it is mentioned that the MP paid Rs 3 crore to sellers to buy ten plots in Alibaug.  In the court, the ED presented that it recorded the statement of a former HDIL accountant and summoned his associates over the case. The probe agency stated that the Rajya Sabha MP received huge sums of money in his account as well as in cash from a person named Praveen Raut. The MP consumed that amount in purchasing flats in Alibaug and Mumbai. In earlier proceedings, the probe agency told the PMLA court that Praveen Raut- ex-director of Guru Ashish Construction Pvt Ltd- was Sanjay Raut's frontman in the Patra Chawl scam.  He received Rs 100 crores from HDIL and diverted that money to accounts owned by Raut's family members, business entities, and linked accounts. MP Sanjay Raut is presently in ED custody in a money laundering case related to irregularities in the Patra Chawl re-development project in Mumbai's Goregaon region. Earlier, the Enforcement Directorate arrested Mr Raut on Monday after raiding his home.  Recently, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray slammed the BJP over the arrest of Sena leader and his close aide, Sanjay Raut, by the Enforcement Directorate. He hailed the Rajya Sabha MP as a 'true Shiv Sainik', who did not succumb to pressure exerted by the party in power. "The Bhartiya Janta Party is conspiring to finish off regional parties. The mask is off. I had thanked Koshiyari (Governor Bhagat Singh) that you inadvertently brought the dream of crushing Marathis out before us. Similarly, the BJP president has also clarified they don't want regional parties to exist in the country as they want to rule India in a dictatorial way", said the former chief minister of Maharashtra in a virtual address.  https://twitter.com/OpIndia_com/status/1555075651278843904
