Noida Police Arrested Absconding Shrikant Tyagi From Meerut

After announcing a massive search operation and Rs 25,000 reward to nab the self-proclaimed BJP leader Shrikant Tyagi, the UP police arrested Shrikant Tyagi from Meerut. Earlier, security was beefed up at the Surajpur court in Greater Noida, as Shrikant's lawyer had filed a surrender application in the court. Shrikant Tyagi, who introduce himself as the national executive member of the BJP Kisan Morcha and National coordinator of its Yuva Samiti, was accused in a case for abusing and heckling a woman in one of Noida's residential society. The matter came into the limelight when the video of the event went viral into the social media platforms. Meanwhile, the BJP has refuted all of Tyagi's claims and openly rejected his association with the party in any sense. Earlier, the UP police had announced a cash reward of Rs 25,000 for information on the absconding self-proclaimed politician. Action Taken By The Authorities So Far

In the early hours of Monday morning, teams of Noida development authority conducted a demolition drive at the official residence of Shrikant Tyagi. During the drive, officials used bulldozers to demolish illegally constructed section at his residential space. Similarly, the UP police has formed 12 teams for the investigation of the matter. So far, investigating teams have raided 50 premises associated to Tyagi and his closed contacts. Charges Framed Against Shrikant Tyagi

According to police officials, Tyagi has been charged under section 354 ((assault or use of criminal force on any woman, intending to outrage or knowing it to be likely that he will thereby outrage her modesty),504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation), 447 (punishment for criminal trespass) of the Indian Penal Code have been lodged against him. Police Response Into The Matter

"We had responded immediately after the episode came to light and an FIR was lodged accordingly. Today [Saturday], during further investigation into the matter, four close associates of Shrikant Tyagi were detained for questioning", said Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (law and order) while answering the questions of media persons on Saturday. In his statements, the police officer added, “The police team that went to the spot found three vehicles of Tyagi there. Two of them were found violating the Motor Vehicle Act and were impounded. The third vehicle, a Toyota Fortuner, had the official symbol of the Uttar Pradesh government on it but in violation of rules".

BJP's Response To Shrikant Tyagi's Association With The Party

Addressing the media about the connection of Shrikant Tyagi with the Bhartiya Janata Party, Gautam Buddha Nagar MP Mahesh Sharma said that Tyagi is not a member of the BJP and assured the party's support in delivering justice to the victim. He added, "I am ashamed that the said incident happened against a woman under the present government. During his visit the BJP MP was accompanied by BJP's Noida unit chief Mahesh Gupta. Meanwhile, BJP MLA Pankaj Singh also come out in media and said on Monday that Tyagi will be arrested soon. What Is Shrikant Tyagi Noida Case?

On Thursday, August 4, 2022, a video went viral into social media platforms. In that video a woman objected to plantation of some trees in the residential space by Shrikant Tyagi, citing violation of society rules. Angered by the woman's objections, Shrikant Tyagi claimed that the area was within his rights and started abusing the victim. In the viral video, Shrikant was clearly seen abusing and using force against the victim. In that video, Tyagi also claimed that he is a top leader of the BJP. According to sources, following the incidence the victim went to the police station and filed a complaint against Tyagi. However, on Sunday night, around 12 henchmen of Shrikant Tyagi had entered the Grand Omaxe Society and started threatening the woman. The police has so far nabbed 5 out of 12 henchmen and beefed up the security of woman following the Sunday night event.
