West Bengal: Cyclone Yaas To Make Landfall Between Paradwip In Odisha And Sagar In South 24 Parganas By 26th May

According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, Alipore, the cyclone Yaas is only 670 km far from hitting the coast of Digha, West Bengal and will turn into a very severe cyclonic storm by Monday night. The Indian Meteorological Department has compared the damage of cyclone yaas with the last cyclone Amphan that hit Odisha and West Bengal. The Indian Air Force has airlifted 21 tonnes of relief materials. NDRF has formed 46 teams. The West Bengal government has initiated an evacuation process from the low-lying areas of South 24 Parganas and East Midnapore districts.

General Bipin Rawat: The Army Is Ready To Extend Help To The People Of The Country In The Fight Against Covid-19 Pandemic

As India is fighting a ferocious battle with the second wave of the covid-19 pandemic, chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat said that the army is always ready to help India tackle the covid-19 pandemic. General Rawat addressed a video conferencing at a seminar organised by a social organisation in Ballia, Uttar Pradesh. As the virus is now attacking the rural areas of India, General Rawat said that people must come together and be ready to fight the pandemic.

All Indians To Get Vaccinated Against Covid-19 By December Says Union Minister

On Sunday, Union Minister for Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat said that India has been working to increase the production of covid-19 vaccines and asserted that every Indian will get vaccinated by the end of the year. While addressing a press conference, he said: “It is for the first time in history that India developed its own vaccines for any virus parallel to the rest of the world. Earlier, it took years for vaccines of any virus to reach India,” Mr Shekhawat also attacked the opposition leaders saying that they have politicised matters related to the inoculation drive in the country.

Covid Bulletin: Fresh Covid-19 Cases Dips Further; Discharges Surpasses New Reported Cases

A ray of hope continues to shine as India records more discharges than new covid-19 cases for the eleventh day. According to the data released by the Union Health Minister on Monday Morning, fresh covid-19 cases declined further in the last 24 hours, with 2,22,315 more testing positive for the virus. A cumulative total of 3,02,544 were discharged across the country, taking the total tally of recoveries to 2,37,28,011. As the second wave seems to stabilise, India is showing a declining trend in covid-19 active cases.

CBI Moves The Supreme Court Of India Against The Calcutta High Court Order In The Narada Case

The Calcutta High Court, on Friday, had ordered the house arrest of four leaders – Firhad Hakim, Subrata Mukherjee, Madan Mitra and Sovan Chatterjee in the Narada Bribery case. The CBI has moved the Supreme Court against the High Court’s order. The Supreme Court is likely to hear the case at 10:30 am today.

As Mucormycosis Cases Rise, Pune Orders Screening Of Covid-19 Survivors In Rural Areas

Pune has recorded more than 300 cases of mucormycosis or black fungus. The Pune district administration has released an order for health officials to screen covid-19 survivors in rural areas to identify black fungus cases. The order said: “If a suspected case of mucormycosis is found during screening, it is expected that he or she should be checked by experts, and if diagnosed with the ailment, the patient should be given necessary medication and referred for further medical/surgical treatment,” A control room has been set up by the district administration to distribute anti-fungal drugs needed for the treatment of mucormycosis cases.

With all the Asian sides having a packed schedule till the end of the year, Asia Cup 2021 has been postponed to 2023, according to the statement issued by the Asian Cricket Council (ACC). The statement read: “This edition of the tournament to be held in 2023 as there is already an Asia Cup in 2022. Dates for the same will be confirmed in due course”. The tournament is usually held every two years.
