IMD Says Cyclone Tauktae Continues To Show Weakening Trend; Indian Navy Rescues 132 people
On Tuesday morning, the Indian Meteorological Department informed that Cyclone Tauktae was showing a weakening trend and said that a severe storm is centered over Saurashtra, about 20 km south of Amreli (Gujarat). On Monday Night, Tauktae damaged structures, electricity lines and uprooted trees as it made landfall in Gujarat. Indian Navy rescued 132 people out of the highly challenging situation.

Covid-19 Update: Plasma Therapy No More In The Covid-19 Treatment Guidelines
The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), on Monday, issued an advisory stating that plasma therapy has shown no significant benefit in covid-19 treatment and hence dropped it from the recommended treatment guidelines for covid-19. Several other international trials have reported no benefit from plasma therapy. Last year, a trial was done by ICMR on 400 patients, called the PLACID trial, which didn’t show any significant benefit but plasma therapy was still in off label use.
Allahabad High Court Says Uttar Pradesh’s Medical Infrastructure Is At God’s Mercy
Allahabad High Court, while lashing out at the Uttar Pradesh government for failing to identify a covid-19 patient, Santosh Kumar, lying unidentified in Meerut district hospital, said that medical infrastructure in the villages and towns in ‘Ram Bharose’. The Court heavily criticised the government for failing to ramp up the medical infrastructure of the state. “A patient is admitted to the hospital in absolute care of doctors and paramedical staff, and if they adopt a casual approach, then it is a serious case of misconduct. They are playing with the lives of innocent people,” said HC. The state government has been directed by the Court to develop a definite report on ways to upgrade medical colleges by the next hearing.

The latest covid-19 trend is moving towards rural India, which has neither the medical infrastructure nor social media to call for help. About 5,400 people are sick, and more than 30 people have died in the last three weeks in Basi, 1.5 hours from Delhi. This type of scenario is playing all over rural India, with entire families being wiped out due to lack of oxygen supplies, no doctors and no healthcare facilities. The pandemic has gone beyond control in the villages and small towns, with authorities even failing to record virus fatalities.
Covishield’s Adverse Effects Reported With Cases Of Miniscule Bleeding And Clotting
A government panel investigating the adverse effects of covid-19 vaccines has found that India has reported 26 cases of bleeding and clotting after taking the Serum Institute’s Covishield dose. Releasing a statement on Monday, The Union Healthy Ministry said that India had reported a total of 23,000 cases of adverse effects involving both Covaxin and Covishield; out of these, 700 cases were serious. The ministry also mentioned that despite cases of adverse effects being reported, Covishield still continues to have a tremendous potential to prevent covid-19 infections and reduce deaths in India.

Olympic Medallist Sushil Kumar Seeks Anticipatory Bail At The Delhi High Court In Connection To The Chhatrasal Stadium Brawl
Since the death of Sagar Rana at Chhatrasal Stadium on 5th May, two-time Olympic medalist Sushil Kumar has been on the run. An FIR of murder, abduction and criminal conspiracy was registered against the wrestler. A Delhi Court also issued non-bailable warrants against Kumar and six others in connection with the case.
