Whatsapp Challenges New IT Rules 2021 In Delhi High Court
Whataspp has challenged the new IT rules and moved to Delhi High Court, saying that one of the rules violates the privacy rights given in India’s Constitution. One of the new IT rules states that the intermediary will have to identify the ‘first originator of the information’, which, in turn, means that Whatsapp will have to break its end-to-end encryption to access the information. After the government of India introduced the new IT rules 2021 in February, all the social media giants were asked to comply with them. They were given a three-month time to make changes accordingly. The last date to comply was 25th May, but none of the social media platforms has adhered to it as of now.
