Are You Ready For Argentina vs India’s Second Warm-Up Match Tonight?
Recently, The Indian Men’s Hockey Team left for Argentina to play in the upcoming FIH pro league matches on 11th and 12th April. But before clashing with each other at the FIH Pro League, both the teams were to play two practice matches on 6th and 7th April, respectively
On Tuesday, The Indian team took on the Olympic champions, Argentina, and won the first practice match by 4-3. At first, both the teams were relatively slow, but India picked up the game in the second quarter and emerged victorious.
The goal scorers for India were Nilakanta Sharma (16th minute), Harmanpreet Singh (28th), Rupinder Pal Singh (33rd), and Varun Kumar (47th). Dragflicker Leandro Tolini (35th, 53rd) and Maico Casella (41st) scored goals for Argentina.
After starting the tour of Argentina on such a positive note, Chief Coach Graham Reid said, “It was a very good practice match, intensely fought by both teams. It is always nice to come up with a win against a team like Olympic Champions Argentina as it amplifies our confidence levels.”
“we allowed Argentina to come back into the game particularly in the third quarter where they scored twice. When you play a strong team like them, we need to be consistent in all the quarters.” added Reid.
Though Argentina’s Tolini made a spot-on goal at the 32nd and 53rd minute, India gave a tough fight to the home team. Indian Men’s Hockey Team captain Manpreet Singh missed the Europe tour, but he is in his full form at the Argentina tour.
Singh had earlier said how the tour is important for him to understand the areas he needs to improve upon.
After the team clashes with each other at the FIH Pro League, two more warm-up matches will be played between the teams on 13th and 14th April as part of preparations for the Tokyo Olympics.
The second practice match between Argentina and India will be played on Wednesday (7th April) at 8:30 PM (IST).
