Overdijk Sets A New Record At The ICC T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier

The first day of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier was really eventful. The tournament was expected to grab a lot of attention and it did exactly that. It is supported by Dream11 and the Netherlands' Frederique Overdijk grabbed the headlines. That was by her record-breaking spell of 4-2-3-7. These are the best figures ever in T20I history in any edition. The spell was so brilliant that it reduced France to just 33 runs. They were bowled out in just 17.3 overs and the Dutch easily chased it down in under four overs to register their first win of the day. Previously, the Dutch lost to Scotland. They were able to just put up 98 runs in 20 overs batting first. Though their start was weak, opener Sarah Bryce's 36-ball 46 ensured that Scotland got across the line. They had more than three overs to spare as well.

What Happened In The Second Game Of The ICC T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier?

To add to that, the second match of the day was between Ireland and Germany. In this game, Gaby Lewis stole the show. She managed to score an unbeaten 60-ball 105*. This made her the first Ireland Women's player to score a T20I century. It was an impressive feat in the shortest international format of the game. In response, the Germans were chasing a total of 197. It was going to be a tough ask for the German side anyways, as the total is huge for any T20 match. They finished the innings with just 32 runs, falling short by a massive margin of 164 runs. It again was a one-sided game and the fans were disappointed with the lack of fight. However, the thing is that some of these teams are just getting into the game and will need more time to develop. They will be focused on improving in the long run. The T20 World Cup Europe qualifiers have seen some impressive performance so far. It is great to see that some of the players have already stepped up. Let's wait and hope for more such impressive performances in the upcoming days.
